Jesus that was a blunder by the AR on the offside. Fair enough on the card with how it played out but jesus would be nice if it had played through as it should have done.

Looking into my crystal ball, I say 0-0 halftime, we get up 2-0 by 80mins, then Sydney pull one back to give us a suitably nervous finish to our first win of the season.

We'll then spend the next week here talking about the we're going to win the league, and prematurely looking at ways to get in to the Champion's League and how Ricki could have the 3rd most important job in the country on Nov 8, if he wanted it.

Close enough - tied at halftime, 2-1 victory, suitably nervous last 10 minutes, and the atmosphere is decidedly upbeat alreadywolfman2008-09-28 19:03:24

yet took cross out after cross out of the air, made a good save or two. Could have done better on the goal, but the keeper can't  always  be perfect, that's why we need to score more goals!

We showed effort. We chased balls and as we gained confidence, we gained ascendancy...

Kwasnik, Smeltz and Gao beat players, held the ball up and made passes, Brown, Siggie, Dodd, Ferrante, Muscat and Lochhy knocked the ball around well.

Christie got on! Muscat looked much better than Mullligan. Mully has got some fitness work to do to stake his claim ahead of Muscat and Christie I think.

enough playing on reputation- more of this playing with heart!

Let's see the picture of Brown in headbandage scoring the winning goal played all the way across egg ball land!

WELLINGTON Phoenix have risen from the ashes and claimed the scalp of Sydney with a vital 2-1 win at Westpac Stadium.Alex Brosque gave Sydney the lead with a looping header from a Shannon Cole cross.

But Shane Smeltz levelled the score and a bandaged Tim Brown sealed the win when he longshot found its way past an unsighted Clint Bolton.
