Only negative is after we scored our second goal space opened up for us everywhere and we'd go part way up the field then turn around and go back instead of trying to seal the victory.  At seasons end goals for/against could be vital and they should've at least tried for another.

I agree and commented the same during the last 15. That was the time to kill the game yet we slowed everything down and dicked around at times.

Great result, huge improvemnt on performance and fight in players was evident The cherry would have been finishing strongly

Am I wrong or did Lochy's cross take a slight deflection? Or should I even care?

In the immortal words of Loosehead Len:

I felt sorry for the ref today.  He missed a good game.

rugby can't compete with that, that was awesome - the last ten minutes were a nightmare though!

The last 5mins + added time was nerve-wracking!!  I remember a few of the games last season where we lost or lost the lead in added time, but this time the boys held out for a fantastic win & against Bling.   I noticed Aisle 21 had stopped waving their shirts in the dying minutes because it was so tense.  Every time our boys got the ball everybody was "shouting clear it !!"

Well done!!

That was magic. I had forgotten that feeling of celebrating a goal to go in front!! I had deadset forgotten about taking shirts off with 10 to go, I had to do some very hasty undressing.

I thought the game was cracking actually, the entire team was suberb. Man of the Match for me was Dodd. Leilei in the first half was awesome.

I just got back from the 4 Kings, the reception the 10 or so of us sitting up outside gave Brownie when he came up to leave from downstairs was spectacular, he was grinning from ear to ear. I just can't wait for next week. C'Mon lads!

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

That is a good call.

We need to pack the Kings next week (Monday evening ?).  Everyone has to wear what they had on today though, the slightest change might jinx it.

NO!!!!  Me and Bill had put $20  (at 30-1) on Phoenix to win 3-1.

Thanks Phoenix - I'll only manage to watch 2 games this year (I live in Japan, was back for CCM and today) and we got a win and a draw. Not bad!

You just have to love the energy they had though. They looked like a totally different side. None of this lacklustre passing - it was genuine quality. My MOM is Gao - guy who wasn't afraid to take a guy on, and actually got past them ;) Sydney were in tatters in the last ten - sure they were searching for an equalizer, but they were forced to do it with nothing but 50-50 long balls. And how about Pasty's save to deny Aloisi! Class.

Took a guy along who'd never been and he was well impressed with the atmosphere: "this is much better than the rugby".

man, go the nix :) im happy!!

thinking we should keep dodd at CB when the others come back tbh, they'r both great players, but don't have the phsyical presence dodd can bring, i think we could afford to play dodd with Mckain and shift duratne to RB, or something like that

So this proves that all we need to do is try hard enough, and we will win.

It's a shame we didn't try that tactic all season  ...

Just kidding, I'm feeling pretty chuffed too.

Not so sure on the 'don't change the team' though; I would have Daniel starting instead of Coveny.

Yay to Ben Sigmund and the headband warrior Tim Brown.

using on screen keyboard cause keyboard broke so cnt write much bt great win. brown, siggy and gao [1st half] were standouts. finally some passion and commitment. dodd and siggy > durante nd mckain ? what ? very weird.

this game reminded me of our first ever win last year. same nerves at the end.

ricki's subs still a bit weird but he used them at the right time [not 5 mins b4 the end] so kudos to him.

Wasn't it great to see the crowd go mental 3 times yesterday - in a good way?? Once for each goal and then at the final whistle........Or being one that was going mental. I know I was.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Interesting that all the Sydney players were heading to him after the game, all with something to say.

"Not enough free kicks our way ref"?
"Not enough yellow cards for them ref"?
"Why wasn't one of them sent off ref"? (he tried, but got it wrong)

As I hadn't been on here for a couple of days, and only managed to switch the telly on 30 minutes into the game, I saw who was playing (or rather who WASN'T playing) and thought WTF is going on.

Great win though, and a load of good performances notably from Gao, Brown, Sigmund, Muscat, Dodd and Paston. Made my day!

Ref had a shocker, topped off with the 'red card incident'.

Nice to see LG in the crowd wearing the entire Phoenix merchandise catalogue . (least I'm sure it was him)

Not as nice to see a topless Hard News. My kids ran screaming from the room when that appeared!!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

he is bloody blind.
BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER COZ WE WON 2-1!!!

I shouted at innocent strangers on the street WE WON!!.
they didn't know what the hell I was talking about.
OH WELL COZ WE FRIGGEN WON!

I would like to take credit for the win... after Arsenal lost 2-1 to Hull I said ``That's ok, I'll accept that if the 'nix win 2-1.''. Should have had money on it.
Tremendous effort by the team and the Fever... watching on telly I especially enjoyed the welcome Sydney got as they wandered to the south end of the pitch for kick-off, which almost drowned out Fred, Dennis and co on the commentary :-)

Yeah Yellow Fever was impressive from the telly, could hear the old Same Old Aussies, Always cheating loud and clear.

What a weekend, Liverpool win 2-0, Wairarapa United win 7-1, Nix win 2-1, does it get any better than that?
