Loved the the brief chant that I heard after the 3rd goal  aimed at Ricky ,"you'll never win a Halberg ,you'll never win a Halberg!!
Hilarious !

The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

Wonder if the WRU and Nix would come up with some sort of cross promotion to make the most of these two games in the weekend?

Please can EVERYONE listen to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdBh9obaDAs & sing it properly, it sounds 4king awesome.

The version near the end sounded terrible!

"Stand UP for the Phoenix" - they emphasised "up" far too much!

Good crowd though, Fever Zone was packed from top to bottom!

Nothing to do with the Nix, this game isnt run by them.

Agree, mentioned to my wife that that chant was not sounding right. However it was loud, you could clearly hear it, and thats the most important thing!

f**k,half of what we sing isnt exactly in tune. Who cares.

Interesting looking at our first season attendance figures. 7 outta 10 home matches over 10k. 14,421 in first match. Was always going to be hard to keep that level going consistently, but after this season it could be possible. Get back some of those fans who were going a couple of years ago, and I know there's a whole lotta keen newbies now.

This sounds bleeding awful. No Matter who turns up, according to Tony the Nix get no cash at all this weekend

"Pignata has confirmed that making the play-offs will not boost the coffers, with the A-league offering no prize-money and Football Federation Australia taking all the cash from ticket sales. "We don't get one cent from ticket sales. Basically the finals series is run by Football Australia and they take all gate receipts."

Nice one FFA

That would be hilarious. The Australian league Grand final hosted in NZ. Do you think they would consider taking away from us? There would be major politics going on there.

This will throw up some issues:

What national anthem would they play before the game? NZ, Oz or both?

FFA corporate sponsor heavyweights would have to fly out to NZ for the game.

FFA control the stadium and associated signage during the finals series.

But interesting question.

Unfortunately, that's why some of us in melbourne are a bit peeved, we have pulled over 47,000 to finals game on a few occasions now and the FFA get the gate takings.

it affects all clubs sunshine.

Exactly, but very unfair thst the FFA don't share some of the spoils given the clubs' effort and expense to get themselves to a playoff and deliver a crowd.

I do realise that the FFA have massive expenses to run the league and this is one way to recoup some of that, but just a little something would be nice

Some good questions. I wouldn't have any issue with only the Oz anthem being played as its an Oz comp, but I would imagine a compromise would happen and both would be sung. FFA sponsors will probably be happy with the free trip (they would have to fly to Brisbane/Perth/the other of Sydney and Melbourne to where they are headquarted.

Stadium signage is always an issue, but one that i'm sure could be resolved.

No prize money for the finals?? WTF? Other than winning the tournament, surely there is always a financial incentive to do well?

I can't believe the FFA take the gate receipts? They must be swimming in cash!

Do we get any prize money for finishing 4th?

As I understand it no we don't.

How much do the winners get?

And people have been whinging about the terminology in the past so I'm a spot confused.  Winning the league is just the premiership isn't it?  Not minor premiership?  And winning the play-offs is winning the...what?

When the Warriors made the NRL grand final they played both, I seem to remember that opinion was pretty mixed on it at the time. Personally I would rather neither.

So no prize money for finishing 4th, and no prize money for making the finals. Do the winners get any money?

And what are the FFA doing with all the money?

Presumably its about stopping the rich getting richer? Admirable sentiment but you think there would be some kind of bonus cash-wise for making the playoffs. Guess they would argue it would be indirect benefits, sponsors willingness to invest, better crowds next season etc..

Yeah but when pretty much every team is not even making a profit, it doesn't make much sense really?

Plus there is the salary cap, so theoretically at least, there shouldn't be any disparity in that sense.

If the FFA control everything does that mean that Fox Sports are coming over like Channel 9 does with the league finals?
And more importantly does that mean Mel McLaughlin is coming to Wellington?

You would think that we might actually get some before and after programme with this game?

Or is that just too much for Sky Sport?

Yes, it probably is too much to ask ... like asking them to show the games on time, not delaying them till the wee small hours. It would be great to have the coverage the aussies get with Fox Sports.

Does anyone know if Sky will be showing any of the games in the Asian League?

Hardly unfair. FFA give handouts to all the the clubs each season and they are the ones who setup and run the competition.

Not getting extra cash from the playoff does bug me, but then, we have benefited from this policy over the last couple of years. I'm assuming the money does get redistributed between the clubs and helps the stability of the leagues.

And Sky really does need to have a pre-whatever for this game. Or it's a disgrace.

Wouldn't it be in FFA's interest to ensure as many people turn up (= cash and a good look for the televised game at the "finals" stages)?

So a 5 pm start would make sense.

Edit:  Sorry - a senior moment.  was looking at the other thread that was talking about start time before this one about who shares the loot.

Need a cup of gingko tea I guess.  (now where did I put it?)

As someone else has stated a thread - it's looks like FFA will do quite nicely out of the Nix being in the finals, withouit the Nix not getting much more than bragging rights, Ineligible for ACL, No Youth League, no W-League.

Dom Post today states one of the biggest factors in Costa's decision to sign for Meow was that there was no youth league team in Wellington to give him game time.

Its the same for everyone, Melb wont get to keep theirs gate takings either and we knew the rules before the start of the season. Its not all bad as in the eyes of the FFA the nix would get a few gold shiny stars (you know like when you were 5 and at school) with 20k+. Gold Coast will be lucky to crack 10k. All of which builds the clubs brand and strengthens our future.

I also think that if the nix do go on and win the championship that it would just about put to bed this whole AFC/Nix stand-off. FIFA who made the decision to allow a New Zealand team to play in the a-league, are not going to flush  down the toilet all the progress acheived through allowing us(nix and all whites). I could actually see fifa come out in full support of the nix past 2012 for the betterment of oceania and nz football. Ha ha can you imagine Bin hamman's face.
Versace hat bought in Melbourne 320 dollars
Air NZ flights to get there 540 dollars
The look on bin hamman's face when fifa back the phoenix past 2012
PRICELESS!!!!!

ATM couldnt care less about the ACL, maybe once we have a youth team, a bit more stability, seperate nix / national coach. Until that happens it could put to much strain on the club, not to mention all the travel.

the rate they are selling, it could go close. going off the normal pre-sale number as an indicator of how many turn up on the night, this crowd could be massive. i said last week (CCM game) that pre-sales were through the roof but this week has pissed all over last week and some.
