Milts, I occasionally see CT at work - we always have a little chat. Fancy me asking him if he'd be up for an interview about his time with the Kingz, to be put on your YouTube channel?

Thanks for that, brought back some great memories.

Some very good kiwi players involved in that match from both sides including the two best kiwi strikers up to that time (Covs and Rufer) and two of the AWs best midfielders at the time (Ivan and Ngata).  That game had Oceania’s player Of the century, most capped AW and highest AW goal scorer.

Hopefully though Woodsy can eclipse both Ivan and Covs and put pressure on Wyton for best AW player ever.

Rumour has it that unofficial season review videos were made of the first two Kingz seasons, featuring Bloc 5 etc... the maker got into a whole pile of trouble at the time and was threatened with legal action, so you may need to ask him nicely, but there would be useful footage on there...

Was also a feature done on the ACFC fans on the Nat Lge highlights show back in 2006.

That the kind of stuff you're after?

Milts, do you know (or have) of a YouTube clip of the Bloc on Holmes?

Unless you watch these sorts of collections, you forget how absolutely brilliant Wynton was.

Wish I got to watch the Kingz live, was still very young when they disbanded in 2004. Would've loved to watch Wynton in action.

Top 10 Kingz players
1) Wynton Rufer
2) Harry Ngata
3) Paco Almendra
4) Mark Burton (for one season, ignore the other seasons)
5) Ivan Vicelich
6) Dennis Ibrahim
7) Fred de Jong
8) Dino Menillo
9) Levent Osman
10) Robbie Hooker or Michael Theoklitos

To be honest, I struggled at the end of the list......Silva and Urlovic scored goals, but they just weren't that flash.

Childhood favourite of mine Russ.

Anyone got any footage of that banger free kick he scored away one time? Was about 35 yards out and went top bins. Think it was Carlton or Gippsland, one of those Melbourne teams that went bust.

Surely i'm not the only one who remembers this.

Seems like the Kings were a lot more fun than the Knights.

Made one trip out to see the Knights and tbh Bazeley was possibly the best player on the park, but it was fairly dire and one and done was enough for me for that team. I don’t think they genuinely threatened the goal the whole game.

Remember watching bits and pieces of the Kings on Prime free to air which was a good introduction.

The second year of the Kingz, which was the first at Mt Smart, was possibly the most "fun" season in the history of NZ sport. The third year was great too, but it all went a bit tits up.

He also played in the free kick for Nelsen's winner against Oz in 2002 which sent us to the Confed Cup.

Selective memory as a child probably has me only remembering these two things and nothing else about his career tbf.

No mate, your memory isn't selective, those were the only two things he ever did in his career.

Watching that YouTube clip back Jonathan Perry scored quite a few screamers didn't he? Can't say I have any recollection of him as a player tbh, apart from I think he was a defender. Decent technique on him for a defender if so.

Three for me, and two for them.

Perry and Jackson were top players for the Kingz but by a country mile Ngata was the best. Still my favourite kiwi player of all time.  Was soooo gutted the Knights didn't try to sign him.
