Ricki is looking at a striker and right winger today. Good
signings if he can talk them into moving to NZ.
And who might they be? ? ?? ?
Defoe and Lennon? ? ;)

Closer to home, but can't say who at this time. Be
patient.

Pretty much everywhere is closer to home than England...

Benjamin . .. . sorry, what's your identity. It sounds like
you're fairly closely associated with the "inner workings" .
We wish!
Bertos and Fischer maybe?
Peoples Republik of Aucklandia
is it harry kewell? and henrik larrson? or juninho in there too?
Would we want to sign Kewell? He's had a few pies and is injury prone - it'd be cheaper and just as effective to sign me!

Yeah who are you Benjamin? Closer to home as in NZ/Aus/Islanders or
foreigners?
Wellington are looking at signing Juninho Paulista
(ex-Middlesbrough) from Flamengo after Flamengo sacked him.
- Wellington are also interested in Wayne O'Sullivan and Noel Spencer who were both released by the Mariners this year.

Phoenix Sign Second Brazilian
The name of a second Brazilian player for the Wellington Phoenix is expected to be announced in the next few days as coach Ricki Herbert's squad continues to grow.
Herbert beat Adelaide United to the punch in signing left back/midfielder Daniel Lins Cortes as the first of four allowable foreign - non-Australian or New Zealand - players.
"I was talking to Glenn Dods at Adelaide over the weekend and he wasn't happy we had signed him as they were very keen to have him," said Herbert. "While I haven't spoken to Daniel directly, I know a lot about him after watching heaps and heaps of DVDs.
"We were aware that other clubs were chasing him and were lucky enough to secure an option."
Herbert will not name the second Brazilian until the formalities are completed but said he played a similar role to that undertaken by Fred, another Brazilian, for Hyundai A-League champions Melbourne Victory.
"He plays as a traditional No 10 role - sitting in behind the central striker in a receive, turn, distribute role - in linking with the front-runners," said Herbert. "He has played at the same level as Daniel and is currently at a first division club in Europe.
"I spoke to his connections onSaturday night and we hope to have the deal finalised within the next day or so."
Cortes, who plays as "Daniel", is a dead-ball specialist who likes to push forward. He is likely to take an attacking left midfield role with his new club.
"It's great for the Phoenix to get a player of this calibre - especially with other A-League clubs interested in his services," said Herbert. "From what I have already seen, I'm sure, given the technical ability Brazilians bring, he will add something to the team."
Daniel, 27 (and 1.80m and 78kg), is currently with Brazilian club Guarani. Apart from stints at Dutch first division FC Twente and Videoton in Hungary, he has played his football in Brazil.
He is the only player signed by the club whom Herbert has not hadpersonal contact with. But Herbert expects he will be in Wellington around May 20 to prepare for pre-season training in early June.
Herbert expects to name at least four players this week - including a couple of All Whites - as he builds towards the 20 or 21 players he expects to sign for the new season.
He intends leaving two or three spaces open with a view to adding, if needed, in the November transfer window.

Closer to home? Phan Van Tai Em is a very handy midfielder
that plays for Long An in the V-League. It would be good to
have him in the A-League. I understand that Winothai from
Thailand has also expressed his desire to play in the A-League
though he is more of a striker than an AM though he may be able to
play in the position.

Sorry to be cryptic, but I could get in bother if my identity
was fully revealled. Let's just say that I am not in the
employ of Phoenix or any representative of the player.
I won't bullsh*t you.
(With regard to whether or not Daniel's brother is alive or
dead, and whether Wikipedia is currently full of sh*t or not - I'm
asking around and will confirm as soon as I know for sure.)

Benjamin, you are officially the YF mystery man/ woman.
On the topic of Benjamins, Benjamin Totori is certainly closer to
home and a potential striker for the Pheonix
Striker: John Aloisi? Australia is close to home, could be unless
Queensland nab him first tho.
WHAT ABOUT JAMES SANDISON? OR RICHARD JONES? THERE FROM CANTERBURY
AND CLOSE TO HOME!
Benjamin, you are officially the YF mystery man/ woman.
Man. I can definately make that information
available.

Then why not tell us we won't tell anyone
one...Promise.

Bertos? Roddy brown? Johnny Gerondis...yeah right.
Then why not tell us we won't tell anyone one...Promise.

I can tell you who it's not...
It's not anyone who's been mentioned on this thread so
far.
Hmmmmm, if what you say is true..No bertos then...for now atleast.

I just know that he's not one of the two players being looked
at today. He may be already be in the pipeline. I only
know about two specific deals in the offing.
Sorry for the vaguaries. I'll not post again until I
have more 'concrete' info. There's nothing worse than some
bloke posting endless hints and clues but refusing to name names -
and I'm turning into that bloke.
You an X Files fan Benjamin - or should that be Cancerman ....

I would think that the chance of the Phoenix signing John Aloisi
could be pretty good becasue he's already shown interest in the
A-League by talking to Queensland, but we would have the advantage
over them becasue we already have Ross which could sway him to come
here and it would probably have to be this season as well becasue
Ross may not be around next season. But if the speculation about
signing a couple of Brazilian fowards is true, then it would lower
the chances of John signing which is a shame. Have to wait and see
what unfolds.
Webster is poooo.
Cant stand him, he just runs around like a headless chook and
never does anything.
looking at a story A league web site perth don't think they
can keep kiwi duo.
all so figo leaving inter you never know
Figo..wouldn't that be a signing...But I hafta say...... you must
be dreaming.
What's the link?

Juninho was a class player. Dont know about nemore but he is quite
old but does add some experience and a different syle to the team.
We got some class players but again we need a strong centre
back. Tambouras maby. Any other thoughts? Not Danny Hay.
And what players do u believe should play in the Pheonix
perhaps from Central League?
Raf De Gregorio(Olympic) Kieran Jordan(Auckland)?
Figo, Juninho and John Aloisi.......that would rattle the
A-League!!! Terry was talking about investing heavily beyond
his initial purchase of the license when he was interviewed by
RadioSport soon after buying and he's making all the right moves so
far.
He will throw some more cash around to buy a few top players
to underline that he means business and that in turn will
get the numbers and support up quickly - as long as the results
follow but with a few more names and added talent to those already
signed that should be a given....
