BUT 5 MONTHS IS BARELY ENOUGH TIME FOR A TEAM TO GEL BEFORE THE START OF THE SEASON!
WE'VE MISSED OUT ON SO MANY AMAZING PLAYERS ALREADY!

We all know that the feverettes talk a lot of trash!

fever-ette = diminutive feminine form (i.e. a small female yellow fever person)

fever-ite = one connected with the fever

I think you'l find that the majority of the trash talking is done by us older males.

(And the female feverites who are all sweetness and goodness are beyond reproach anyways)

Camp is part of Heart of the matter

Melbourne Heart would consider hosting an A-League fixture in Shepparton, but it won?t be at Deakin Reserve.

Heart chief executive Scott Munn and midfielder Nick Kalmar were at Guthrie St Primary School yesterday to announce a Community Football Festival in Shepparton in August.

The three-day camp, starting August 25, will include a warm-up match against A-League rival Wellington Phoenix at Deakin Reserve, which will have free admission.

Munn said the practice match could just be the beginning of a strong relationship between the Heart and Shepparton.

Season: 25 weeks (2 midweek rounds)

Also, apparently midweek games will all be in December/January

Oh bugger. I'm likely out of the country for much of April next year. Oops.

Midweek games in Dec & Jan makes a lot of sense. The article also mentions there will be 1 round played in regional centres, so every team gets 13 home games this time around. If that means that for us it will be 12 home games + CHCH, and Auckland being our regional game I would be fine with that.

As long as we don't have a third home game taken away to be the regional round!

It's quite daft having more games at a time of year when home fans are more likely to be on Holiday.

Do they not want clubs to have a chance of making money or something?

Also means people don't have work during the week and kids aren't in school so are more likely to attend midweek games.

Pretty sure the plan is one to Chch and one (the regional round) to somewhere else (probably Auckland).  The rest at RoF.

Why have them at all? People do have to work during the week you know, this isn't the 70's, factories don't close down and all. If people are not at work, they're going to be away.

I would prefer none as well. Just from a selfish view in terms of family & bed time (not so much an issue during the holidays I know but would still be hard for younger families).

Having said that the mid week games were quite enjoyable for the 4k that turned up.

Although in Dec not many people go on holiday (since our summer only really kicks in from late Jan to through to mid Feb)

They will get lots of money from all the SkyTV subscribers?

Midweek moaners and their kids need to harden up a bit IMO. I'm sure one late night in the week won't see their kids going off the rails...

Been to plenty midweek games home and away in my time back in Scotland and remember being excited to be going rather than worrying I might be a bit tired the next morning. Don't recall it affecting school or anything either.

I concede if you are travelling from 2 hours or more away from Wellington, it's more of a pain, but surely that's a fairly small minority.

Won't worry me too much as mine are old enough. I said it would be hard for the younger families.

Anyway I can always give mine lots of sugar and energy drinks if they look like they're flagging.

I rest my case!

(plus of course the young uns will be excited about staying up late to watch footy. Who wouldn't?)

Well, in the Holidays, is a different matter, but no, not on a school night. Still just don't understand the need for them- we know it will lead to a lower gate, rightly or wrongly, so why do it?

From 442 (http://au.fourfourtwo.com/news/203520,aleague-rebooted.aspx):

A strategic review has been done and without giving away the details I can say well play more games in clear air which means overlap with NRL, AFL and Super Rugby wont be a factor because well readjust the calendar, Patterson said.

I hope that means there will be two Marches and Aprils as doesn't Super egg ball start in March?

Casual fans are the majority of fans. These are the fans that don't turn up midweek. Its not a case of harden up, its a case of it not being worth them going..."But we'll go to the next weekend game kids"

I just don't get why midweek games are so difficult. They happen all over the world in all sports and it seems that only here and Australia it's a big problem for people?

It hasn't been released yet Brettdale. Apparantely still ironing out a few things. As for a place today what about Century City Hotel (on Tory Street). Sure Terry would appreciate it.
