Played second half. Looked a bit rusty but certainly looked technically able. Was doing some long passes at half time and was hitting the other player 30 yards away with both feet.

Can't expect much from him, I guess. Technically able is enough to make me happy.

Pen save

That looks like an abosolutely first class pen save. Look where the ball is and how far he is stretched! The pen's got elevation and is away from the keeper. Tough on Brockie! Puts me in the mind of the one Boyd had saved by Galeckovic. Italiano has had a couple of good games. Recall a really good save against one of the pommy teams.

Italiano has a huge kick - I would guess if he tried from a hand release he could but it over the cross bar at the other end from within his own pen area.

Thanks to the bloke on the gate who was handing out players allocated tickets to folks at the gate ( hope he hadn't hacked into the NZF web-site), and to Taupo for turning on a stunner of a day. A great way to spend the afternoon, lying on the grass in the sun watching footy.

Phoenix looking good in their warm-up games , and hopefully Brockie will get one soon to open the floodgates, coz I really want to get one of the "Sex and Drugs and Brockies Goals" T-Shirts and wear it without irony.

is that the first Nix hat trick?

Surely friendlies don't count?

But anyway, Pavlova scored 3 (or 4?) against Wairarapa.

A very entertaining game good competitive spirit throughout. Highlights for me:
Riera's talking throughout, demanding a high level of play from everyone in the Nix team.
Boxall and Dura both giving Hamish Watson a stern workout with some tough challenges.
Doyle composed at CB with Siggy. Siggy > Boxy.
Tyler taking people on, setting up Wee Mac's goal.
Rufer making an impact, slotted into the midfield well, lovely assist for the second goal.
Wee Mac a good second half.
Roly did OK. Not as big as I imagined him.
Tim Payne only satisfactory.
Wynn was it, playing right back for the AWs did well.
A disappointing crowd for such a beautiful day and some very good football.

Oh and of course Roy's excellent hattie.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Brockie, two blazed over the bar, a tap in ruled offside, a header onto the bar, and a penalty saved. God is trying to say something...

It absolutely was - Brockie hit a pretty good penaly and we all collectively gasped when it was saved. The palm JUST pushed it up and over the corner of the post/crossbar.

Roly was pretty proficient. As 2nd Best said, a bit rusty, but looked good pushing forward on the right side of midfield. Nice defensive presence too. He's a very solid unit... going to be a good guy to have in tough midfield exchanges. He won't get pushed off the ball too often.

Siggy had a good game marshalling the defence. He was very vocal.

Boxall didn't play badly. He'd be good on the open side flank too. I am sure Roy Krishna would agree after Box took him in a coathanger and flattened him a couple of other times too. But I guess he could just point to the scoreboard and note he put three goals away.

Nice summary from Oi Oi above. I agree.

Great to see Krishna get a handful. Would like to see a 4-4-2 diamond used. I think that fits our best players in in the best way.

Does anyone know when and who the next preseason game is?

Not sure a ten minute journey should be considered an 'away' game,

But... but... Petone is sooo far away. There's no way that any great number would travel that far.

How many can your place host? The Intra City Fever are planning coming up early for some quite ales before walking to the ground, possibly turning over some out door furniture, taking on any Shaktar Donetsk fans we come across on the route...

I'd be keen to have it large with some Petone Ultras.

Is the game vs WSW now not on, after they made it through to the ACL semis?

Correct.

Maybe we should organise a match with one of the CCM teams instead?

The one with only one player (who is currently training with us anyway)?

Probably be more practical to play the one with more players, but who aren't A league registered.
