In a four four two article Merrick says he only wants to sign 2 players a number 10 and a striker and they are looking at a list of 20-30 and will take their time getting the players they want.

Merrick added Phoenix are not close to any signings,  despite talk of Michael McGlinchey joining, and that they are in no immediate  rush either.

“You’ve got look at 20-30 players, then get it down to a  shortlist of five or six and hope to get one or two over the line,” Merrick  said.

“Nothing has changed, we’re not close on signing any of  them.

I fear that we are really gonna strugle this season, every season the league seems to move slightly ahead of us and with our thin and weak squad and a lack of new signings it feels like another season the same..

In Ernie we trust.

Potentially quite an exciting midfield, depending on how Gorrin goes and if Riera doesnt have second season syndrome.

Is this going to be anti climatic or is this legit? The Phoenix sometimes hype this kind of thing up and its actually just a snore. 

Anything other than a new import/McGlinchey/decent Aussie i.e. our own players or ASBP players will be greeted with scorn.

Whilst i'd like Weemac, I am quite interested to see how Hicks and Ridenton could do playing in that position and given time to develop.

Weemac is obviously the better player at the moment, but do the other two have more potential?
