2014/15 Transfer Speculation

AJ, where or when have Tyler or Kenny said they are looking to go elsewhere. Only rumour here, based on one article that included his american passport. I think everyone is looking too deep into what is happening. As for Joel, meh. I still do not see him working in our set up.

A few people here have mentioned it, ive heard people at games mention it, ive heard people who personally know other people within the club mention it...

Exactly. Rumour and speculation. Nothing concrete, nothing from the club.

Joel gives us a plan B, teams have worked out our playing style. If we come up against another team that are intent on kicking our forwards rather than the ball then Joel gives us something that our other players lack.

So you would expect the club to say something like "Kenny and Tyler have been mouthing off that they are going to leave the club" ?

I think there is a grain of truth to this. While we might have Manny and Siggy doing that work at the back, i think we need a bit of mongrel up front and telling defenders not to "fudge with me". I think that Matt Simon is that type of player too.

And? I heard about Brockie leaving a long time before he did. Sauce = some git off his face taking a piss pre match at Bethel Woods. Heard about Krishna through the rumor mill a long time before it happened also.

And yes, this is the Speculation thread.

Dear God, we are already on cosy first name terms with him.

As for this idea that he has got his anger issues under control I have seen no sign of that this season at all. He is every bit the lunatic he's always been. And although I'm all for the maxim 'innocent until proven guilty' the fact is he has been at the very heart of the worst club meltdown in A League history and was summarily sacked for his part in it. I definitely do not want him at the Nix.

If sackwhacker is plan B I suggest we find plan C pretty quickly.

No problem for me if we sign Griffiths

OK he is a cock...but he will be our cock. If he can come off the bench and give us a bit more variety, a bit more mongrel,  then thats great.....because we are lacking a player like him. Our quick little guys are getting beaten up every week. Griffith is physical, experianced and has a good track record in the A-league. I don't really care what sort of person he is...as long as he can do a job for us. Football teams don't have to be full of nice guys like Brockie. Ernie and Durante will keep him in line. Well done Ernie for realising we have a problem and trying to do something about it. Who knows, Griffiths might score the goals that help us get into the final.

In Ernie we trust.....

I'm ok with people who score goals and we finish in the top two. I'm not ok with people being shipped down the river and us having a toothless attack and giving up on this season.

I'd rather we tried a cod until the end of the season, than just accepted that we have little or no depth off our bench and let the other teams with momentum- Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide- just get away from us at full steam.

In Ernie we trust. If he wants to give it a go, he's the gaffer, it's his call.

call of the month.

It's been frustrating that we haven't seen any of our pro kiwis overseas returning to finish their career with a stint at the 'Nix. Feel Rory would definitely offer something different. Though he probably isn't super pacey, he can rifle home a goal. I'm sure he'd cope with playing a false nine too.

Would he have enough fitness to do the shutting down of opposition Ernie wants? Still 20-30 mins off the bench should be fine.

I like the fact that we have a no cocks policy.

If that has been made clear to Griffiths and Ernie and the leadership team back themselves to keep Griffiths' behaviour in line then sign him. It's low risk - it's just to the end of the season anyway.

It's been clear in the last few games we need options to change things up front and, for whatever reason, Boyd is on the outer.

Ernie does have a track record of successfully sorting out on field disciplinary problems (Sigmund, Muscat and Lia).

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

I thought the whole no cocks policy was just a thing invented round here for a laugh?

If Manny, Siggy and to a lesser extent Vinnie played for another a-league side we'd label them cocks for sure.

Having said all that, Griffiths is the cock of all cocks. The supercock if you will.

No thanks.

It would seem to kost people on here that Joel Griffiths is either a penis or a vagina.

Either way he can go fudge himself for all I care!

If we had ended up losing Burns in the transfer window I could have more then understood this transfer. It does however seem a little strange at this point with Boyd and Cunningham more then capable of providing back up for the front three.

We have Burns, Krishna, Appiah.

Cunningham, Boyd

We don't have a LB except for Doyle (who isn't playing for Wee Nix today).

But Boyd and Cunningham are just poor man's Burns or Krishna. Griffiths is a different type of player.

I'll bite.

Differences:

Griffiths has behaved like a cock, Muscat has behaved like a psychopath.

The Nix owners support the coach enforcing a no cocks policy and setting clear on-field behavioural standards. Melbourne's owners didn't (same owners that sacked Merrick).

Merrick empowers the leadership team to enforce behavioural standards, Melbourne's leadership team (i.e. Muscat) were the problem not part of the solution.

The bottom line is you either back the coach to recognise a player that brings options and skills that the club needs and the coach and leadership team to set and enforce behavioural standards or you don't.

Fair enough if you have issues with Griffiths' behaviours or doubt Ernie's judgement on this matter (assuming there's is actually anything to the rumour) - each to their own opinion.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Merrick visited Muscat, Kev in his cage between trainings with some bones to chew on, and then let him out on the weekends...

I see Boyd even scored there....

Hicks. When I have seen him live this season looks like Boyd two years ago. He's a wafer.

I think we're stating to realise how big a loss Brockie is.  We all know he's a confidence player, scores two for us in last game and now's on a roll in SA.

Big call here but I think Burns should be dropped.  He's been worked out by other teams.

Force him wide and don't jump in, he'll run out wide while he very in-often plays the early ball/pass as shown today.

I wonder if the Chinese attention has put him off his game as happened to Lockhead when he trialed at Middlesbrough.
