Second half pretty dull.... Then WSW score to make it 2-1. Both teams making 5+ changes so game really slowing down

Sounds like Mambo is redeeming himself after the City effort. (which was one of the worst i've seen by a keeper live at any level; though obviously not helped by his defence)

WS Wanderers FC @wswanderersfc

Some good signs and some things to improve on. Exactly what you want out of a pre-season hit-out #WSW

Wellington Phoenix @WgtnPhoenixFC

Full time Phoenix win 3-1 @PirtekStadium v @wswanderersfc in a solid preseason. 2 goals to @RolyBonevacia and one to Blake Powell! #wswvwel

Gotta say I am pretty happy (and relieved) by that performance. By all accounts (a) we played very well, and (b) clicked and (c) a LOT of the young squad members got good runs too. These appearances are adding up, and it's gotta start being normal for them soon (if not already). I am very encouraged.

Did we play three at the back?

According to the RBB our ball movement and one touch passing through the mid field was very impressive in the first half.

That is what killed us towards the end of last season. We just forgot how to pass and teams capitalised on that. So this is good news, means Ernie has worked on this problem (I wont say fixed just yet).

Thank god Roly still hasn't realised he's too good for the A League!

We conceded a goal and a penalty against WSW, who were 9th last year, only 1 point above the Jest.

“Vince Lia slotted in between the two centre backs when needed and they were rock solid the whole game."

Sounds like it could have been a back 4 but with Lia dropping back to make a back 3 if Fenton and Muscat pushed forward. Also good to see Michael Ridenton getting another run on the pitch

Wonder if he did it while he watched a Vinnie Lia shot sailing over the crossbar.... :-)

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Game was played live on Periscope by WSW - don't have the app so can verify if we could get it.

3 goals and one touch passing in the midfield. Is this what we can expect for the season? No angst?
