Great effort but afraid it really is a sham how its been achieved..

Why because of the License issue or the money YF raised to buy memberships? Either way, we used the license issue to ours and the clubs advantage.

Both, as i said great effort but come on Matt lets not kid ourselves that arriving at the magical 5000 figure has only been achieved because of the position we were/are in.There would be more than a few sold ONLY because of where we found ourselves.

The real test will be achieving that figure next season without the emotion of the #savethenix campaign behind it.

Yes and it is great that we have got 5,000. It shows the support the Nix have which is the idea behind memberships. Sure next year will be a test and will be a struggle to get to 5,000 but why not celebrate this acheivement and what we and the Nix have done.

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

Hows that any less of a feat though?

So we pushed our hardest to get the best result we could.  Is it a sham if someone studies their ass off for an exam, because they wouldn't have studied their ass of under other circumstances?

Is it a sham if we win the trophy and get our record numbers the next year because the only reason we got there is because of the circumstances?

Apparently Sydney FC gives memberships away that contributes to their Metrics, I would say YF fundraising to buy ones for others is less of a sham than giving them away.

If the WellNix gave away 2k memberships then I'd completely agree, but if all the memberships have been bought I'd say its as much of a sham as any marketing campaign ever.

Sorry a few things which have nothing at all to do with membership of a football club there and i fail to see how they are in any way relevant. As i said and i repeat again yes a great effort, but come on dont try and pretend its something its not.God forbid someone dare question something you just cant do that.

Of course you are allowed to question it.  just like i'm allowed to respond with why I disagree with your comment.

God forbid someone dare disagree with you just can't do that.

Personally I'm not trying to pretend their selling 5000 memberships is anything it's not.  I personally view it as them selling 5000 memberships which is exactly what it is.

The non-football are relrevant in the relationship they share (aka an analogy).  They are all things that occur because of a sudden large amount of work because of the circumstances.

But correct me if I'm wrong but the Sydney FC example does relate to a football club.

Would it be more legitimate if the Nix gave away memberships?

As an overseas supporter of the Nix Im stocked with my membership pack and will be getting another one next season too

Now lets all give a group surprised expression. I think it is fantastic. It is not like one person bougt a whole pile of memberships and is sitting on them. These are spread out and being owned by individuals.

I was watching a doco on Reggie Miller last night which during part of it explained how there was a spike of about 5000 season ticket sales after they got Patrick Ewing via the NBA draft. Though many of those wouldn't have kept them more than that season, one of those who bought a season ticket for the first time was Spike Lee, who went on to become a long time, and very high profile fan.

Point being that though many of those who got extra tickets because of the #SaveTheNix campaign won't renew, we have no idea how many may just come to a game and love it, or enjoy being formally attached to the club (like charliec above), and continue to buy them.

The Nix also now have a much bigger database to use when promoting season passes/games next year.

Came across this story on a team in Thailand's Regional (Div 2/3rd tier) League.

A club there is giving away free tickets to under-18 through local schools. If I've understood the scheme correctly, orders are placed up at school to 3 days before a home match, & are collected on matchday

That might be relevant if they actually used that information. Very rarely in past seasons has there been much effort from the club to contact previous season pass holders.

The best effort they have ever done and it only happened the once as far as im aware is when they got the players to make calls reminding people about memberships.

Today is another classic example of how to miss a good opportunity. At half time they could have walked out to the middle and introduce our new striker but alas, once again, nothing was done. It might have given us something to cherr about because the game on the field mirrored to sad atmosphere from us fans. It was like we were trying to support a dead horse and gave up.

Arrived Saturday afternoon & the club put a photo on instagram of him and the non match day squad at the game.

I bought a six pack last season and can only make 3 games this one. I got a call before the season started asking me if I wanted to buy the same again; so it would seem they do make that effort.

Dare i suggest it if it hasn't already been suggested would there be  a market for a kind of double membership Phoenix/Hurricanes season ticket ,I mean its not for me personally as I would rather watch courgettes grow than watch rugby live but it  wouldn't surprise me  within  the Wellington sports fan base on the soft edge "Ill watch anything under lights at the stadium cause theres feck all else on as long as its sport and gets me out the house "brigade then there may actually be a market for such a membership?
Of course this idea would become a serious option if we had a decent 10,000 to 13,000 seater stadium rather than the Fran Wilde everything for everyone disaster we have  now !

Wrong season but managed to convince my old man that since I'll be driving from Masterton for each game next year he should tag along.  He has locked in getting a season membership.

Just don't whine when they stop doing them and you're stuck paying $20 plus a Ticketek fee every game.

Free scarf! Plus... Preferential buying to home play-off matches in A-League Finals! ...

Ok I'll get my scarf and go home now :-)

Tickets? Tickets? We talkin’ about tickets?

how many home games were there?  Surely $10 a game isn't much less than we pay for a season pass anyway.  And its guaranteed tickets, and a scarf, and other crap I put in a drawer, and it helps Metrix.

Could have saved $50+ this season if you purchased a ticket at normal price for the first game, got the $10 tickets after the other games and got a free ticket to this one. And that is the difference between a silver renewal (fever zone), if you compare to a new membership the difference gets larger.

I like being a member and I think the culture around memberships across supporters in general needs to improve in NZ; be a part of something you believe in, support and want to do well. I didn't get a scarf this year but picked up a drink bottle instead, #toomanyscarfs

But are the $10 tickets bronzes?

If so then the difference would be smaller wouldn't it?  Granted it doesn't really matter in the stadium but just wanting to make sure the $ value (for those who give a shark) is being compared apples to apples.

Fair point, they are probably bronze. As you say it doesn't matter really, it's been ages since I have had to show my ticket to get entry into one of the aisles marked for the fever zone.

There is a girl in the zone who has sewed all the previous scarves together to make Phoenix blanket. Great idea! There is a solution to #toomanyscarves

I have seen that, into a poncho I think.

And that blanket would easily be worth more than $50 so BAM, its cheaper to buy a membership. FACT!

"Bring a friend for free" is one  game only (1 ticket per season) - had to sort this out last year when they used the same wording.
