Exactly, there hasn't been any further news, but there hasn't been any bad news either.. If that makes sense.
And back on the Azerbaijan being alluring because of them being in UEFA, having a slight chance playing in the Champions League is better than not playing in a continental competition at all, huh?
Looking at you, FFA!

Given that people are being advised of a press conference next week it's an elaborate ruse...

Since we have no news:
Melbourne City have signed GK Thomas Sorensen.
An excellent keeper who would have been no.1 at Stoke if it wasn't for Asmir Begovic.
He's not going to make it any easier to beat them.

Did we have a press conference that no one attended?

Sorry, been too busy living my life to pay much attention, am I right in assuming that the 'overseas striker', that we were just about to sign, has evaporated into thin air?
YES

I know, I know, its serious!
Ernie does his best work with "Not a striker" and "Hasn't scored many goals"
Seems like real Ernie-type signing, and anyone with middle names of Nana Darko makes my squad.
I know, I know, its serious!
I don't care if he's a God-botherer, if he wins us the league I'll start going to his church.

Double Dutch!
People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.
Exciting stuff; would be nice to get a hint as to nationality. I'm guessing Dutch.
I'm still guessing Jeffrey Sarpong. His trial was recently terminated with Blackburn. (End of July-ish)
Also followed by Roly on twitter.
Well done! :D

Looks like a good signing. Seems strong on the ball and has more toe than a roman sandal - something we've been a bit short of in years gone by. Exciting times.
Praise the lord! Hallelujah, my friends , Hallelujah. Can I get an Amen?

Scores a cracker at about the 7min mark, looks fast, box to box, hard worker, stays up. will fit well.... although they are highlights ;)
Up until last season only scored 4 goals total, will be quite the transformation i hope
Watching Jeffrey's highlights he look bloody full on.
Will at least be entertaining to watch.
A bit like this thread

Why did NEC buy him out of his last year of a 3year contract? injury plagued?
He's a good player but is he really what we need? We have 4 overseas players in the midfield while we have big weaknesses at the back (especially if we are going to play 3 centre backs) and lack a striker. Ernie must feel that either he has a good striker lined up or that he convert someone into a striker.

He brought himself out of the contract according to Piney. "At the end of the second year of that contract, he was released after buying out the final year of the deal."

Sounds like they are thinking this new signing will be converting to up front instead of another midfield player.
I read a few posts on the Blackburn forum while he was trialing - they all seemed unhappy that he wasn't signed as he performed well in pre-season for them.
Ernie is definitely looking at converting him to a striker; or at least a winger that scores a few more goals. Appiah and Krishna are pretty hit or miss when it comes to scoring, so it is a bit of a risk - but it's kind of a risk we have to take with no proven goal scorers available. It's a similar situation to last year.
I look forward to Australian commentators calling him Krishna. Or Appiah. Or Bonevacia.

Powell and Krishna are both proven goal scorers, albeit at a lower level.
This pushes Apiah further down the pecking order.

Haha! I don't think asking what was happening, genuinely, which is what I did, is being a doomsayer! I'm glad we've got the signing across the line, looking forward to see what the new fella can do.
Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Feel like Appiah is the only one likely to hold the ball up. Was impressed with him against CCM. I think if some of the goal scoring pressure is taken off him, he could be pretty useful. Powell I'm unsure about - seems like he struggled against NZ A?

I think Apiah could give Krishna a run for the 2nd position up front.

Harsh on Krishna.
I think he is a proven goal scorer at A League level. Burns didn't score that many after the Asian Cup break...
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Sure. We kind of need double figures from Krishna this year.
