Is Eager the new Clapham? I guess you can say yes if you are being objective. The thing with Clapham though was that he talked loudly about looking for a pro gig and has not got one where as Eager has not. There was a story that the Phoenix wanted to trial him but he didn't want to get his ass to Wellington. He expected to be signed from Christchurch while he was hosted What Now and not go through the effort of trialing. Not sure if thats true but that seemed to be the story at the time.

The story about not getting back to wellington is complete untrue..

Ok.

You have to admit though, that was the strong story at the time that this was the case.

Next year is C

Is that why I have never seen Ernie and Stephen Fry in the same room?

He's the new Clapham.

Quite possibly but the new rule changes makes it much less of a risk of grabbing someone from the Aussie state leagues now.

Just to clarify, was referring to the fact that he's the new NZ player that gets bandied around the speculation thread every year, not trying to make any other parallels.

Bonevacia must have been pretty nervous.

Has anyone mentioned Rukavytsya yet?

He would fit Ernie's idea of a fast striker.

Quote from Andrew Durante this morning - "Once we get Jeffrey [Sarpong] in there and, from what I understand Ernie [coach Ernie Merrick] might be looking at another front man, which would be great. If that comes off, then the rest of the squad is very similar to last year."

So when are we going to sign some youth kiwis like Blake, Dimairo, Gulley, Rogerson?

Aside from Boxall, who played 19 games last season. Are we seriously not going to sign any defenders? We don't even have enough centrebacks for the formation Ernie's been playing, let alone to cover any injuries or suspensions.

Once Wellington United finish their Central League playoffs

Besides, the kids are training and playing for free. Let them keep fighting it out to see who comes out on top. There seems to be about 6-7 names in Blake, DiMairo, Rogerson, Gulley, McGarry, Singh and Cahill-Fluery

Cahill-Fluery is promising, very talented, but nowhere near ready, yet, IMO. For a start he's nowhere near fully physically developed. Which is not surprising given his age...

The ones I have seen play from that 7 listed are Blake, Gulley and DiMairo. Have not seen the other 4. I think DiMairo is a certainty for me based on what I saw last summer, the write ups on here from this preseason and we are light on FBs and Fenton is injured. Blake was around last preseason and had a decent U20s when he played. He is a right half/winger not a defender and Gulley has been around for a bit.

Ffs do I need to implement a Stephens autocorrect as well as a DiMario one?

Joel shows purpose. But we need to do something in the heart of D.

We had a better season last year but still shipped in a lot of goals. Experience is great, but we need pace to stop what we see happening / coming and I don't know if Siggy and Durante have that.

Perhaps we are going for the Rufer theory, its ok if oyu conceed 3 so long as you score 4?

How is Chris Woods going at the moment? Will Ryan Nelson ever return to the game?

We were pretty good last season.

3rd equal best on goals conceded and 4th on goal difference. Those final 5 games were really shark, conceded 10 and scored only 4.

As discussed in the newly released episode of #PhoenixCity Chris Woods is on fire, with a run of goals for Leeds including this one to win the game for Leeds... see the Chris Woods thread in the Kiwis Overseas Board.

DimaIRo. I don't think the M is capitalised either.

Let's sign Dimairo and a couple of Man United's center backs, cause they surely don't want them anymore.

Already been admitted that the Dimario spelling in the programme and on the team sheet is an error.

I am just concerned about defensive depth.

If something happened to Siggy & Dura at the same time we are in trouble.
