Sorry dont get how people think a football team in NZ should be able to make money. There arnt many clubs worldwide who turn a profit and many of them have a shark load more resources thrown at them than us.
Yet for some reason Welnix and some on here think it should be possible despite the lack of support from many in so called grass roots football. The so called national game in some areas struggles yet many think just because we have a so called professional club they should be able to be making money.
Would love to see a breakdown on the freebies and cheap seats on those high attendance games outside Wellington but they wouldnt let those out.Any way the club has said before its not that important the attendance figures in Auckland as most of their costs are covered by others.
With the stadium development all of you Travelling Circus fans should be happy as they have a ready made excuse to take even more games away.
For the first time since the Phoenix were announced i rarely couldnt give a toss about the upcoming season, hoping i get my enthusiasm back. But sadly in a season which should be a celebration like some others i have spoken we feel as if we have been shafted for our loyalty.
not many salary capped leagues though. You think WelNix should throw away millions indefinitely for your entertainment?
No but come on if you really think taking on a sporting franchise in this part of the world is a way to make money. You are kidding, both oval ball codes struggle yet for some reason many think it should be able to be done in football.Sorry just dont get it,
for supposed smart business men you really do wonder.Pretty sure part of the initial reasoning for them doing it was they did it for Wellington
.Does seem that at times they just dont get that some of the practices and principals that worked to make then successful businessmen cant be just used to make a sporting franchise profitable.
Have WelNix ever said that they took over the Nix to make a profit?
Okay then "sustainable" the same still applies i doubt if there are very many "sustainable" sporting franchises in this part of the world.
Still waiting for someone to say just why it should be expected that a football one in Wellington can be made "sustainable " ahead of the Warriors and Rugby and Netball franchises which i am happy to be corrected on i dont think can be said are "sustainable"
Dont get me wrong i would love them to make some money out of it and im extremely grateful they stepped in when they did. But that dosnt mean i cant feel as if we have been taken for granted after what happened last year and the support they got from many re #savethenix..
Yes the stadiums closed in December but no way will you convince me the only solution was to take games away convenient excuse more likely.Just wait till next years revamp of the stadium runs into the inevitable construction delays it will be set up for even more to be moved.
As an aside during this off season i have meet a number of Nix fans who nether sit in the fever zone or even visit these forums.Like some on here some of them have attended all games at the stadium.Every one of them has said to me of there annoyance at the extra 2 games being taken away.It does seem at times that some on here think they are the only ones actively supporting the team.
