I see Greenie was taking the team. Was Ernie there as well? I guess there would be advantages for him just to be an observer.

Didn't see him. We discussed this on the sideline (when our lips thawed enough to talk).

My theory is that he deliberately doesn't show up. That he is only interested in the players getting time into their legs, and not on performances or results. So he doesn't need or want to watch.

Could well be right. I hope then that he is away finding a top notch defender.

Was definitely there. He was on the far side of the field and was alot more vocal than usual.

He was at the Stop Out game last week so maybe he just picks and chooses which ones he attends.

Miramar have a Chatham cup game this weekend do they not? I totally respect their call to rest some players if that's the case and I'm sure the nix would understand too.

I think some people look a bit silly having a whinge about that. Fairly sure it's quite typical for that to happen in these pre season nix games from what I remember.

I'm sure you would whinge if you went to a freezing cold park in jville expecting to see two competitive teams and not getting it

Na not at all, that's exactly what I'm saying. Silly thing to whinge about. Silly to expect so much from one of those games. Some people just like to whinge.

agreed some of us do like to whinge and often with due reason ( sometimes without). In this instance I think a pisspoor showing from what was once regarded as wellingtons premier club

It still is but nice try trying to drag them down over nothing. It's always the same shark from you Karori flogs - if you're not involved it's a complete joke. Time to wake up and realise that it's actually more often than not the other way around.

A hit out against The Phoenix could have been good Chatham Cup preperation  for a first choice  Miramar team.

Wairarapa played The Phoenix mid week then gained a creditable next game draw with Napier and then Stop Out beat Miramar after playing The Phoenix.

maybe the players were given the choice and opted not to play and rest?  It is hard to mug the club off - they were between a rock and a hard place - on a positive spin imagine the experience for the Ressies who got to play!

Here's a relevant question. Did Wharfies get asked to play the Phoenix in preseason?

To be fair to Greenie. I think if the Phoenix are promoting it as a game against Miramar Rangers you're entitled to expect to see most of their first team.

I've been to a couple of these games and no other club has trundled out the reserves/kids.

But I'd be surprised if Rangers didn't tell the Phoenix, so perhaps responsibility lies with the Phoenix. I don't think Rangers did anything wrong given they have a Cup game this weekend (and are out of running in the league, so Cup probably their focus).

Agree it's Miramar's perogative to put out whichever team they like but I doubt players would have rested. It's a normal training night so surely the players who didn't play the game still had some sort of session? Personally I think a game can provide good preparation for weekend but fair enough if the Mar disagree.

No one knows the injury list for the team at the moment as well.

Good question Smithy. I haven't been to a pre season game for a couple of seasons but when I was down there the clubs nearly always rested some of their better players in those games. Another question - did they charge to get in?

Everyone just take a chill pill. Seriously. These are early pre-season games for the Nix with absolutely nothing at stake for anyone involved, really not worth getting worked up over.

At the end of the day it's a preseason friendly. Surely the most important thing is for players to get minutes on the pitch to regain match fitness. Yes it would be nice to see a close game, but when teams involved are in the middle of their season with games where results matter coming up, can anyone blame them for not playing their best players?

back to the football, can anyone tell me what us happened to Louis fenton as a player? They guy looks to have no confidence,

Looks confused in possession of the ball. I don't think he knows what his best position is, he sure is shark is not a left back. What happened to the guy who looked unreal early on in his debut season?

I think the shoulder dislocations not only shot his confidence, but also meant he's bulked up to stop them keeping on happening. Now he's got more weight on his upper body he's not as agile or quick as he was. Combined with too long out of his natural position of course...

I think he need to bulk up anyway , the shoulder dislocations were dealt with so shouldn't be an ongoing cause for lack of confidence. So  I don't really buy that as the long term reason

Just because the shoulder injuries have been addressed doesn't mean that he isn't subconsciously holding back for fear of reinjuring them. It's not a rational thing, it's the body protecting itself from more pain.

And are you saying that you think that bulking up hasn't affected his mobility? Or that it has but he needed to bulk up anyway?
