Not how I remember it.

(Not sure I actually remember much from that evening to be honest!)

Very skeptical of this, but saw someone has edited Zac Anderson's wikipedia page (WikipediaGate v2!?) Australian centre-back, 25 years old, saying he had been given the sack from Emirates FC. Played for CCM and Sydney FC, he may have been on big money over there, at least compared to A-League standard, but hey, bad transfer speculation is still transfer speculation right?

He played on the 23/9 according to Soccerway, so if it happened it must have been in the last couple days. http://us.soccerway.com/players/zachary-anderson/109126/

He is a pretty average CB & never played at fullback that I can recall. We already have Dura/Rossi/Fox at CB & Tratt has played most of his youth career at CB. Its fullbacks that we are struggling with.

[Edit: a few tweets about him being released, so guess he has been]

31 year old left back / wing

I think the Joondalup website has the D.O.B wrong on his profile. He is listed as being 21 in other articles on their website + he was in the Glory NYL squad a couple years ago.

Was playing with Italiano at ECU Jondalup and both made the WA Sate side that played Perth Glory last month

http://www.ecujoondalup.com.au/news/2016/ecu-joond...

The stuff article suggest he plays CB/RB.  I can't find anything on whether that's correct or if he is LB cover as Oi Oi says.

edit - just realised from the pod he played LB in the Weenix-Tasman game.  I was in Nelson and saw the game, but hadn't realised he was playing.  From memory I agree with the pod comments he did OK there without being a standout.

as another p.s. on the main Nelson game - I thought Tratt was actually OK at RB - looked to get forward a lot, mostly managed to steer players wide in defence.  But, yeh, big tall slim player, so will be interesting how he goes against the quicker skillful A League players coming at him.

Doyle, Tratt, Fox and Lowry all lower league players.  Feels like we're hoping to find the next Manny somewhere.  Feels low quality

with Kosta, Fink, Roly, Wee Mac and Rossi, plus experienced players like Dura, we've probably used a fair amount of the cap space.

Doyle and Fox on the make- have passed the first test.  Tratt and Lowry are cover due to injuries and the AWs I think

Apparently we're the only team taking a punt on young Australian talent, kind of puts most of the anti-nix arguments across the tasman to bed.

The Aussie sides are signing up their NYL players instead, we don't have any fullbacks at that level so have had to go looking thru the NPL trying to unearth a gem.

Are we about to sign Ben lifting? Liam Hyslop is talking it up. Just what we need.... another attacking mid....

If Ridenton & Rufer are going to cover for Riera's loss, it does make sense that we need to bring in an understudy for Finkler. Litfin has done well in the Queensland comps & a few Roar fans on Twitter that have seen a lot of him, really do rate the kid.

Reading Mericks interview on stuff and extrapolating a bit he want's to sign young New Zealanders but can't because they are called up to the national team and so has to sign young Australians.

ahhh, i only just realised his name is Litfin, not Liftin.... well it was a nice gag while it lasted.

He has a good record. In signing young players sometimes I is more important to sign ones with talent who may not play the position you need then to sign someone who plays the exact position you need.

The point is he sees developing NZ talent as risky for the Phoenix because they need to cover for the top guys when they're away and not get called up themselves. That is a big whole in the development pathway.

The usual names mentioned: Hudson-Wihongi, De Vries, Adams.

The problem is that they are all in the mix for the AWs and so its a risk signing him. Merrick wants to sign NZ talent and develop them but not at the expense of the Phoenix as a whole.

That and the FFA will blow happy bubbles in their champers because the Nix are developing Aussie players.

Well on stuff he didn't mention that obviously, just that he can't risk signing NZ players to cover for All Whites.

Hudson does have a penchant for playing the kiddies...

Personally I would like to see Dyer, Lewis and Wihongi head overseas and try to pick up gigs... after all the play in a national team good enough to draw agains the states away from home.

worth a look?

A former German under 19 full back ,Arsenal to Hamilton Accies via Portsmouth and Hamburg and only 24 years old surely even Wellington is better than Hamilton (the Scottish one that is)

The signing of Litfin could assist in giving Gui some competition, extra motivation for him I'm sure.

Off to CCM according to reports.
