Off to CCM according to reports.

Transfer window closed yesterday, so only free agents can be signed now.

If he does end up going to CCM it may open up a move for Storm Roux to come home next season? Would be nice to poach Galloway from CCM though.

I liked Galloway from what I saw at MV; certainly would've been a better option than any of the state league FB's we signed.

His issue is that every time he got a run in the team, he had to jet off to some far flung Asian country with the age-grade Australian teams.

most all whites are based overseas. if merrick had a squad full of kiwis, only a handful would be picked at any given time

Jake Gleeson said he would sign with us for a case of Garage Project and a packet of Winny Reds

14 player guest still available? Have we used up the mature age rookie spot? Jan is just a couple of months away.

I believe it is now a full season guest player and it must be approved by the FFA. That means you have to sign someone of Cahill's quality.

During the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 Season, a Club may only register either a Guest Player or a Season 2016/17 Guest Player during the Hyundai A-League Season but not both. A Season 2016/17 Guest Player is included in the 20 to 23 Players on a Club’s Hyundai A-League Player Roster. Guest Players and Mature Age Rookie Players sit outside the Club’s Hyundai A-League Player Roster.

What about giving Billy T a shout? surely its better than his current situation...

From what I've seen of him, he tickets a lot of boxes for us (e.g. Kiwi, DM, promising talent).

He will want to stay in Europe and be on his teams radar.

In the zone last night I heard a few people talking about how Roly is off to another club soon and it's all done and dusted. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? I didn't hear which club.

Fits with what was posted in the Merrick thread with his wife gone, maybe a Jan sale?

During the Adelaide game, commentators said Citeh were after him.

I personally have no issue with this.  With the other players in our midfield he is a bit of a luxury player, certinaly while he isn't contributing all that well either.

Would give us a chance to go into the market for a foreign DM, you know one that actually plays there.

Adam Sarota is available on a free. If we get a decent coach in, we could offer him a career relaunch, ala Burns

city would need to shift a foreign  player for that to happen.

Nah the FFA would just create a new rule which allowed City to do it

Sorensen is off contract next season & Colazo is only a 1 year loan.

Yeah they'll wait, or if they want to buy him off us city group will buy him and he'll get a long break or a loan spell elsewhere.

Why the hell would you want him based on how he has been going for us. Must be going cheap otherwise you'd think they'd look elsewhere.

Roly is still quite easily our best player, imo.  Hasn't been good this season - but no one has. He was terrific against CCM.

He'll of couse go to City and tear us a new one.

I'd love for Man City to come and take him away in January.  We would get some transfer $$$$, free a foreign spot and be able to sign a decent DM.

When McG is fit would he or Finkler be dropped?

If Ernie was still in charge it would be McG or Roly. Now it could be Roly, Finkler, Lia/ARod and even one of the forwards with McG playing on the wings.

At CCM Wee Mac always stood out as a wide player in a 4-5-1. If we stick with the current line up, could see him providing competition for Kosta & Krishna for the wider roles as well as Finkler in the #10 role.

My six year old son would be gutted if Roly leaves....I told him, this is the life of a Phoenix fan

Smoke, fire and all that - reckon he's certainly gone. The earthquakes probably didn't help. Wouldn't blame him for leaving, considering our form. (though he has been a part of that poor form, certainly)

Happy for him to go early so long as we get something out of it... we helped rebuild his career and deserve to get something for that as in a fee of some type.

City have also asked permission to speak to Cirio and Isaias from Adelaide, about signing them for next season. So must be shopping around for the best value for money imports as they only have 2 visa slots available for next season.

Permalink Permalink

Yeah, just talking to everyone who they feel will work with their team. I'd be annoyed if the Phoenix didn't do the same.

Of course there's always the chance that the FFA will add city specific exceptions to the foreign player and squad size rule like they have for the salary cap and rules against fouling players, diving, time wasting, and generally being cods. :P

Sounds like we are probably signing someone in the Jan transfer window. Let the speculation begin

Permalink Permalink

Here's my speculation - Roly released on compassionate grounds, ends up at Melb City with old boss Van't Schip. We look for a Visa Striker but can't find one in the time frames.

With Roly gone from midfield, A-Rod sees more opportunities for games so we re-sign A-Rod for 2 more years.

McG ends up playing centrally in the deeper role vacated by Roly (similar to what McG has done for the AW's over the years)

Disappointingly, we end up taking Kerem Bulut off WSW's hands in a 1 plus 1 deal. Bulut looks to use us as a spring board to a nice juicy Chinese contract much like the Burns scenario.

Tuiloma on loan? Also, more signings without a manager?

good call on that last point.

Would Tuiloma be better than what we have? I don't think.

Is Tuiloma better than Lia? Probably about even at the moment, but surely Tuiloma has the potential to be much better and can also cover RB and LB and CB at a pinch

Lia is a better footballer, I'm certainly no Lia hater, but Tuiloma is a better DM.

Permalink Permalink

I'd pick Tuiloma of Lia... as a bal player, but would need to see a bit more mongrel from him to think he'd push into a starting role... only problem with signing Tuiloma is its pushes Rufer and Ridenton further down.
