Ufuks the man
Tony Rallis: "There's a few more exciting acquisitions to happen at the Jets, that Arthur Papas is working on. There'll be an exciting announcement from the Jets in the regards to the Asia, South Pacific region."

Fiji is in the South Pacific and India in Asia, let's hope they don't have Krishna. Going well for a club with no owners

At the rate the Jets are going this has to be a CB, so Kaltak.

Maybe taking a punt on Lea'i? Really hope it isn't Roy - they don't strike me as being able to afford him though.

More likely a SE Asian player than any of the above, surely.

They're putting together a good squad, be funny if they finish above some of the teams paying their bills (excluding us obviously).

the list of 6 players in that article really only translates to three key players we'll really miss, Reno, The Waine Train and Lewis, maybe Sutton given his end of season form. Old and Paulsen are not really major losses.

Isaias (ex Adelaide united) has left his club in the Middle East, 34 years old and has Aussie citizenship. He would be a decent option as a DM replacement for Devlin.

Good brain on old legs. Bit like a love child of Luke DeVere and Alex Rufer.

Sad to see Tomer go. Aside from my religious and nationalistic similarities to him, and the fact he did a lot for the Jewish community in Australia and NZ, he’s a player who gave it his all in difficult circumstances last year and was critical for us towards our push for finals in the end of the season. I hope he does well wherever he goes (except if plays against the Phoenix)

James Dodd who seems to get a reasonable amount of stuff right is reporting he’s sorted a deal in Israel

Hopefully. I really can't deal with another former Nix player scoring against us, so happy trails to him

As well as a new striker, the Phoenix are also in the market for an import playmaker to replace captain Ulises Davila, a central midfielder to replace Cameron Devlin, another centre-back to start alongside expected captain Steven Taylor and a goalkeeper to provide cover for standout shotstopper Oli Sail.

The offer to Hemed was "competitive" and the offer to Davilla was the biggest in Phoenix history so there seems to be a bit of cash to splash around. Who do we go for?

Bit worrying that the rumors of a South American play maker have gone cold.

It's early days though  - there might be some movement still over the next two months.  But yeah, looks like other A-League clubs (at least some) seem to be decently cashed up so any bidding for current A-League players is bound to be very competitive.

Well now people are saying Hemed is moving to another Australian club seems like WSW is the one everyone's suggesting. The COVID bubble really hasn't helped to keep our non-local players it seems.

Must have changed pretty rapidly as the Phoenix twitter account released their statement about Hemed half an hour after this interview was published (who knows when it was recorded) where Talay said the offer was still on the table with Hemed.

Also, need to take a shot whenever Talay says "at the end of the day" I listened to a podcast the other day where he must have said it at least a dozen times.

Dunno if it was live or recorded when he did the media stuff the previous day

I think everyone knows Hemed's gone, right? It really only remains to be seen whether it'll be the Wanderers or MVFC who will win the bidding war
I don't think there's anywhere near the amount of information to come to that conclusion, the only teams who have announced they're in negotiations with him are the nix and hapoel beer sheva. It was also said on this forum that someone asked him where he would play next season and he said hopefully Wellington.

Saying that, assuming budget constraints and with the squad depth we've got with strikers, you'd think it would be better for the nix to spend the money on the midfield.

I was right tho

the Nix offie for Hemed could well have still been live, just other offers were better. Not sure why he'd want to go to WSW though, such ferral fans.

Wasn’t necessarily a better financial offer at WSW. Sydney lifestyle likely won it for them as his family is well settled in Sydney.

Media seemed convinced it was us or Israel until yesterday afternoon so I'd imagine it was a last minute big offer.

He’d been talking with them previously,  could have been negotiating tactics. WSW didn’t have a striker so needed one.
Also as came up in earlier discussion the Jewish community and schooling is significantly bigger in Sydney than Wellington.

James Dodd was the only media to speculate & if you listened to that Fox Podcast where he spoke about Ball, he said he thought Hemed was going to Israel but hadn't got it 100% confirmed. So I don't think it was a last minute offer, it would have been on the table just like ours & other clubs for him to weigh up.

I meant a last minute bump in what was on offer. But probably you're right. The money being talked about for a move back to Israel was astronomical.

What we need to do though is get these players in on multi year contracts so that we don't do the hard work only for other teams with more need or bigger budgets to come and grab them.

If the whole Gaza thing blew up again (as it sadly will again one day for sure) whilst Hemed was at WSW, then it would get really interesting re their fans esp the RBB.

Hemed proved he is a quality player with the Nix and can score goals in the A-League. But he must know he's coming to a club with perhaps the largest following among Arab Australians and Muslim Australians. I'd like to think he'll do his best to reach out and be accepted by his new team's fans.

Hopefully his goal scoring for us was a purple patch and he returns to the drought he had pre Nix.

I know we are disappointed for him to go but that wasn't it.
I expect he has seen enough things waved at him while playing in UK, and that he knows he will see things like that again wherever he goes.

Exactly. If that was a significant enough action for him to leave a club, then he has done zero research on where he is going next
