If Uffie is as stated looking for an import striker and Davila replacement, perhaps the Devlin replacement is another young aussie he knows about or even a kiwi from the youth team?
Really trying not to get all doom and gloom but it's hard seeing these Aussie teams hoovering up all the overseas talent. Top six is going to be a hard fight with Victory and WSW adding big talent and the top teams consolidating.
image.png59.67 KB Not necessarily how we'd line (realise Old's more of a CAM) up, but we're definitely light a CB, CAM, MID. Think Striker wise with Hoops, Waine, Ball/Sotirio able to play there, we've got enough cover. Can't see anything official, but I'd also imagine Paulsen will get promoted depending on how he gets on with the U23's.
Would we have though... his contract had ended with us, so he was a free agent. Because of his age and the fact he had a contract offer, we would had been awarded a fee had he moved from us to an overseas team, but these are usually minimal.
I do wonder if this is one of the reasons he left, they offered (The Jets) a lower release clause etc.
Whatever the fee is, we will get a little bit as will Sydney.
Given there could be a transfer, would we be eligible to receive some training compensation (along with sfc and other clubs)?
A small percentage of the transfer fee (1% I think?). If he signed directly from us, we negotiate the training compensation with the club. If we can't agree, it would go to FIFA to decide (Roar got awarded $330k for Zach Duncan).
He wouldn't have signed with the Jets if he knew of overseas interest. So doubt he signed with them for a release clause.
I thought you couldn’t sign for two clubs in the same window?
Fairly sure it’s allowed, there is a rule against playing for three different clubs in the same season though I believe. For example Joshua Kimmich (Bayern/Germany midfielder) was re-signed for €1.5m by Stuttgart from Leipzig as they had a set buy-back option and knew Bayern were interested, and then the following day Stuttgart sold Kimmich to Bayern for €8.5m. Theoretically, the Jets could do the same and pocket any fee that Devlin would get, but we would probably receive 1% of that in solidarity payments.
Not sure how many people on here monitor the MIQ/border situation but its piss poor at this point in time with no slots for anyone right though to December 1. This could really make bringing the boys back from Australia or new signings from overseas very troublesome.
I have a horrible feeling the team will be based in the 'Gong again.

Quite sure there is a special sporting dispensation? There are certain spots not bookable by the general public.
last reported as being 1000 spots unbookable by public, these are reserved for dispensations of any nature. I'd expect that includes sporting teams, partners etc along with other emergency requirements.

We didn't seem to have a huge problem getting Hooper to Auckland, so I assume we have access to them.
So, with Hemed out of the picture we'll be looking for another striker to play a role. Presuming Hoops is the first choice striker how about going for Berisha? He's not what he once was but with good service he's still going to score goals, especially off the bench. Frees up an import slot and probably money for the AM, CB, and DM roles that we're trying to fill.
He'd be asking way too much $$ for what we'd want to use use him for, besides I think his usefulness is waning at his age, or else WU would have kept him. I'd prefer we picked up a younger import looking to make his mark.

Agree with this. If we are going to sign another striker after Hooper we could do with someone that has some pace. Berisha will never play for us, Its a no from me. I wouldn't like to see him in a Nix shirt.

Berisha did not score for 7+ games in a row in WU shirt, he's a waste of money.

Except we were after Hemed who isn't pacy and is only a year younger than Berisha. If we're going for a young striker with pace it's not going to be a foreigner IMO, it's going to be a local.

key difference between the two, Hemed was already here, knew the team and style of play, and seemed to have found his form come the end of the season so having him stay made sense. Bringing in a new guy who will need to come up to speed, who is clearly on the decline makes no sense.

Local, all well and good if they are at the level required, but if an import. What about someone akin to Riku Danzaki. I'd prefer an import like that compared to an ageing Berisha.

Yep, does not look good. Wonder if Ufuk regrets re signing. We're going to have yet another difficult season because Aussie won't sort their shark out until at least half way through next year.

Your all so pessimistic. Hard lock down in NSW should sort the current outbreak in 6 odd weeks. Worked for us. Worked for Melbourne. Then no reason not to open up trans tasman bubble again.
The longer it gets drawn out for whether Uffie and the Australian contingent can get MIQ spots, the greater chance they’ll probably stay in Australia, as it isn’t too long before the FFA Cup game, and wouldn’t make much sense to do 2 weeks MIQ in Wellington to then fly back to Australia right afterwards (and possible another 2 weeks if they come back)

key thing is the hard lock down which NSW have been very resistant too.
