Kraeve looks slimmer and more centrally involved. Wooten has slimmed down heaps. I think we might see a good season from him.

Secondhand info…. WPX 5-1 WS Wholesale changes at 60’ (4-0) BK, OZ (3?) JR with the goals, OvH with one chalked off, offside maybe? And maybe another disallowed.

It was a joke , long running theme of last season was Zawada scores loads but never a second (26 matches, 15 Goals, 0 Braces). I don't doubt he scored 2 last night

I think the only thing I’d say is didn’t Rufer come through as a youth spot before the academy was a full on thing? I’d say he gets the rights to be a Phoenix developed player!
Interesting to see where Kraev actually ends up on the pitch in this formation. Will he drop a bit deeper into the midfield and the width players push on? Or will it be a genuine two up top, with wide mids, rather than wing forwards?

Kosta and OVH have been playing very wide, both hugging the touchline. Kraev dropping into an AM role at times whilst Zawada stays high.
424 in attack, 4231/4213 in defence. LKH playing narrow, not pushing too high. Payne similar but a bit wider.
0-0 at half time, Nix seem to have more ball but most play in the middle third.

I thought we looked completely average against an amateur side (albeit one of the better in the country). Score line was not reflective of the match, penalty was silly from Mata as the ball/player was heading out and the second goal was offside in the build up. Phoenix spent most of the game kicking the crap out of Olympic and had pretty poor discipline, very lucky to not get more yellow cards or more. Also poor considering Olympic weren’t even playing with a recognised striker and still managed to open up Phoenix defence on several occasions. How Jack Henry Sinclair can not get a contract with the Phoenix is completely beyond me.

bear in mind this is our pre-season - and possibly the second game the squad have played together and Olympic are close to the end of their season.

They’re not that high? They’re tucking into the midfield whilst the wingers push up high.
Last season Elliot and Sutton were having to push super high and then track back. This time the wingers go high, Kraev and Pennington push forward and the fullbacks cover the midfield gaps.
It’s a little bit like how Man City and Arsenal play with inverted fullbacks.
