Finally after so much hard work by EVERYONE, including the REAL supporters, this is the end of the beginning - look out FOOTBALL lovers throughout the land, the sleeping GIANT has woken up.

Now the real work starts - consolidation

You mis-interpreted my message.

I wasn't accusing anyone one of being a fair weather supporter. I just don't want to be accused of being a fairweather supporter myself. I've been in for the long haul since 99, but I also look at the game as a whole and don't speak on the game on raw emotion. Maybe thats just the referee coming out in me..

Worst post ever. We fully deserved win. '99? aye? (I wont resort to swearing Hard News)

Surely theres a halfway house on this one, yes theres nothing wrong with the raw emotion bit when our  team wins but also  theres nothing wrong in looking at the game with dispassionate  objectivity  at some point .I don't think it makes anyone a lesser supporter if they find fault even in a winning team or suggest that we may have had the rub of the green !

Well said Kiwi Jambo. Why are some giving the Doc (or should I say Duck) stick for admitting that a draw would have been fair? That doesn't make him any less of a Nix fan. According to the stats, we had less possession (59:41 say Sky, 52:48 say the A-League site - quite a difference of opinion that?), fewer goal attempts (12:9), Sydney had some penalty claims that might have been given (not that I would have agreed with any of them) and our penalty was not air tight. Sydney can probably quite fairly claim they thought they'd done enough for a draw. The DocDuckDoc can't be faulted. All of this just makes our win even sweeter

Bring on Adelaide and a big crowd.

Its kinda ironic.

Supporters here bag the referees and 'referees are against the Kiwi franchise.' If you say you are a referee and you support the Phoenix, well then you get bagged even more...

We had the better of the first half, second it was all Sydney. However thats football and we lost last week by exactly the same circumstances

I think I get a feeling for why you're a referee. Well deserved win - Sydney were crap.

My recommendation would be to give up refereeing and then let your true emotions and passion cut loose when we win......

A draw for our 'Nix as a fair result.....he's 'avin a larf!!!!!

i'm sad when we lose, even if we played really well...so why shouldn't i be happy when we win even if it could've gone either way?! i don't wanna be either sad or reflective, or just reflective and reflective! yawn
I like tautologies because I like them.

A draw wouldn't have been a fair result for some very good football from the Nix.  But we were slightly lucky not to have a penalty or two awarded against us - none of the penalty requests waved away by the ref were absolutely howlers on his part - but they could just have easily gone against us.  They didn't, we won, yahoo@!
football tragic for too long

Im sure this is not a one-eyed view, its more than that. This team has played their skins out in the past few matches, giving everything back that we as supporters have given them.

Not one eyed at all.  I have no allegiance to any of the A-League clubs, I just want to watch good football and see the game grow in Australia/New Zealand - the fact is that Wellington are the ONLY side who appear to be interested in playing football the way it should be played.  They signalled their intent by signing 4 Brasilians - 3 of whom (Daniel, Felipe & George) are quality footballers, the 4th being a theoritically 'solid' defender (who unfortunately appears to have left his brain in Brasil).

I hope the season gets better and better for the Nix and they ride high in the league - because it needs to be demonstrated to the managers of the other clubs that dour, dull, defensive performances and a reliance on the counter-attack, is NOT the way to win games, leagues or CROWDS.

before the game riki probably would of liked a point but as the game panned out i think he would of bin disapointed with only a point wen ur playing away from home and you hav a lead your gonna hav to learn how to defend it which phnx did well and sydney looked like they had nothing at all in the attacking 3rd well deserved win for sure
