Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you guys knowing about the A-League Awards, which a bunch of us A-League bloggers have put together. This is where you can pick who you thought was this year's best player, best foreign player and best young player, as well as the player most missed since last year. Smeltz, Daniel and Felipe have all picked up nominations.

You can vote now at http://www.mvfcblog.com/a-league-awards/.

Cheers,
Eric

Smeltz is currently second to Sack Whacker for best player.
Daniel and Felipe 2/3 after Hernandez for best foreign player.

Other two polls unimportant

Of course, when you take into account that he's had only two or three quality defenders in front of him all season, and know that technically he's superb and has made some great saves, it's easy for us on the right side of the Tasman to (correctly) call him the best keeper in the league. But the stats, unfortunately, cannot be ignored.

As a Roberto Luongo fan (ice hockey), it's a situation I'm all too familiar with. Of course, Luongo finally got the Vezina after being traded to Vancouver. I'd rather not see Moss play for another club anytime soon...

two or three Robb? I'd suggest 1 at most. The defence is especially central defence has been our one real weakness.

Yep - two before Rees came along (Lochhead and Dodd), 3 after Rees was added to that list.

Sorry mate, I respect your opinion of course, but I disagree with your stance on Dodd. He's not as good as Lochhead, but he's still good enough to be a regular starter, and he's had some great performances over the season, there's been at least a few matches where he either got my vote for MOTM or was narrowly beaten for it.

im with robb. dodd can play, uncomprimising and tough. maybe not an organiser or great communicator but he can play, put him alongside someone with those capabilities and he will shine even more

If we can sign a decent right back, I can see us reverting to 4 across the defence.

currently Daniel and Felipe are 1 and 2 respectively - hope they don't split the Phoenix vote (only about 200 votes cast so far, in that poll)

My stats have C Bolton as #1 in goal saves, G Moss as number 2.

Surely, given the defence he had in front of him, he should be in the running.

When did Felipe become so good?

He isn't. Does the same thing over and over - gets past a couple of players then has a rush of blood. He then runs into the defender and trips over and complains for 5 minutes. Hate it. He's only had two good games - Newcastle 3-2 and Sydney 2-1.

Agree about the tripping over thing (especially in the 3-0 loss to Melbourne when he had more tantrums than a two year old), but for the majority of games he played in his performances were above average to brilliant. His best game was in that soul destroying 2-1 loss to Adelaide when he gave his absolute all. Inspiring stuff, and what we'll need plenty of next season.

For those of you who haven't voted in the A-League Awards yet, now's the time. Voting closes today at 4pm.

Just voted for Smeltz and Daniel but they've both slipped into second. Griffiths is in front for best player by a mile, but Daniel is only 0.2% behind for best foreign player. A few more votes should put him in front.
