More returning Socceroos = more stupid red cards. Tiatto, Moore, Muscat..

Could that be interpreted as meaning that referees down here aren't letting them away with sh*t they might have been getting away with elsewhere?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Listen Agent 47 I'm not bagging the A-League....its great entertainment, end to end action ,lots of goals etc.

I am just pointing out that there has been a lot of recent comment( new Socceroo coach, SBS football show, Sydney Morning Herald) about how the A-League lacks teams with high levels of technical/tactical skill. Its a very physical league with good player commitment however there must be a place for your playmakers to do their thing..

I have watched at least 15 A-League games this season and apart from 2 or 3 the standard of refereeing has been poor.

I know you are not bagging the A-league and that was never mentioned in my post. Its the consistent inconsistency of the fans that grates me.

Rightly or wrongly, the A-league is a physical league. There have been numerous complaints about ball players not being protected. Felipe and Daniel have had 8 different shades of f**k kicked out of them this year. The majority of the time, thats been dealt with. So when players do get punished, the first comment is usually 'oh that was harsh/oh the referee is ruining the game/ making himself the star/imposing himself''

So what do the fans want? Players that are protected or kicked off the park? Vince Lia and Kristian Rees should have both gotten first use of the showers on Saturday but got lucky and in Lia's case, for the 2nd time this year. Yet no-one here has commented on the referee getting it wrong or why is he not protecting the ball players/being consistent. Cause the fans are 1 eyed. There is the consistent inconsistency that I just hate. We get decisions go our way, and decisions that go against us. Usually, over the course of a season, the ledger squares itself up. What we need to preach to our players is "Don't commit dumb f**king fouls in the first place" Like Jezza gobbing off at the lino when warming up, players diving, elbowing players in the ribs/face. I would think as a guess, we would lead the league in player suspensions in combined straight reds, 2nd yellows and 4th yellow, yet the refs get bagged for that???

If you have seen 15 games out of 84 then naturally without seeing the majority of the comp, you are going to miss other performances. However if you pick games that Zetter, Breeze and Williams have had, then yeah, you are going to be watching sh*t.

I agree 47, to a point, i think fans in general are one eyed, so if their player is hurt or sent off the ref is sh*te. Personally I'd rather see it reff'd consitantly too. there have been too many incidents in the same game where one player gets a card and another doesn't. there is also no consitancy across the refs in the league. One game a guy will get red carded for a rough tackle, then in another game the same tackle is simply wanred.

Vince Lia has been very lucky to stay on the park this year one more than one occasion

Very true, some of his tackles have been very reckless this season. Probably from youthfall exuberence than malice but will need to be careful next season.
