Milligan would be a good pick up, even if he had to be the marquee at the expense of Elrich in order to entice him to stay. I'd def. keep Rees, almost certainly keep Felipe, and maybe Lia. Signing Bertos is a priority, which means some midfield spots would have to go.
Also, I'd sign Robb Watson from Kelburn as a reserve keeper....(dreams are free...besides, Cosimo's already signed me for Yellow Fever FC...)
Ah, Wollongong! I remember watching the Wolves come from 3-0 down to win the grand final.
I hope you would keep Felipe, Robb - he's rated very highly in Oz, and I wouldn't want to see him playing against us next year if another A League club snapped him up. Yesterday he main football analyst on SBS TV, Craig Foster, called Felipe "probably the best player in the A League at the moment". Spoiled it a bit by adding, "Well, in the top 2 or 3 anyway".
It must be getting late - I'd def. keep Felipe, mostly as an impact player though. And on the condition that he gets a new hairstylist

was impressed by Ogenovski on friday - a back four of Rees, Ogenovski, Dodd, Lochhead would suit me (tho Ree's pace would be a slight question mark)
Santalab - not with that name

Why does the Newcastle fans think Mario Jardel is a legend? He was at Bolton Wanderers when i went over to England in 2003 and he was crap!! They ended up selling him because the tried him on the Atkins diet but it didn't work.. evidently
I like Owls comment, Lia and Felipe are worth keeping, Felipe was great against Queensland and Lia has been consistently improving as the season has gone on and he's currently keeping Brown and Aloisi out of the starting line up.
It probably won't be popular on these forums, but I'd rather have Felipe than Daniel in my starting eleven.
I also thought that Coyne would be a good player to put into right back in a back 4.
The word I'm hearing is that Bertos is dead keen to play for the Phoenix, haven't heard if Ricki wants hiim or not though.

I'm with you regarding keeping Felipe and Vince Lia
(and i think the fans could help felipe to want to re-sign by acknowledging his efforts throughout the Sydney game on Jan 4)
I'd also keep Rees - he's been impressive and has added leadership and quality decision-making at the back
I'd keep at least one of Johnno or Aloisi - for their experience
Elrich - I'm not convinced but I'm happy to leave the call to Ricki and the club's fitness coach
doesn't open many gaps, so i guess all but Felipe and Lia could be released if someone clearly better can be lined up as replacements
Bye Bye Rees, he's very average in my view. Sad to see Brownlie isnt on that list. He's also got to go.
Keep Costa/Draper/Spoonley. No point in giving them the experince they are getting by training with the squad. Hopefully they are our future stars.
A dog with a bone :)

Crazy!

sigh..., seriously.. why do u want to throw out the man who looks to have gotta our defense going in the last few games??? he is not average, and the only question mark he has is his pace, hes getting on, but hes strong, hes experienced, and he knows what hes doing, he'll tall, and wins the long ball, Do u see him hoofing the ball up field as dodd and old do? silly comment, KEEP REES! ftw

I know you're a loyal fan nightz, and we'd probably agree on a few things but the thought of your reading out your team makes me

"In goal we'll have Mark - now just you button it Mossy!!, you had your chance!!, and at the back - no sit down Reesey! stay right where you are!!-, Jeremy brush those cobwebs off your boots .....
Goals conceded per game w/ Rees: 1
Says it all really.

Colosimo has almost certainly signed elsewhere in the A-League (Sydney I think).
Harnwell is an objectionable oik (witness Webster - his team mate - swinging for him last season).

Crazy!
As for releases - both Johnson and Aloisi have played well when on the field, but having two older guys hog the spots would seem a bit silly. So they're out. Felipe has to stay, and Lia should too. Elrich, although well below par this season, can only get better next year, and if his brother's here too he'll have even more of an incentive. This means that I'd end up releasing Rees - a bit harsh given he's added stability to our backline, but football can be harsh at times. A backline with Ognenovski and Dodd as centre-backs, and Tarek Elrich and Tony Lochead as fullbacks looks pretty impressive to me. And with O'Dor and Old as defensive cover, and Rees as the oldest one of them and the only one coming off contract, I'm afraid I'd have to let Kristian go. Sad to say that, but that would be my plan if I were in any position of power at the Nix...
Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I think you'll find that most people actually just like to speculate and fantasise about what they would do/who they would sign if in any position to do so.
Doubt many people would be gutted if their wishes don't materialise.
Agree entirely... I suspect we may need to use the import spot for the position as there aren't many options domestically here or in Aus. Seems to be a spot many sides have trouble filling.

Elrich has played at fullback for Newcastle, and did so pretty effectively. I would like to have a fullback on the right who complements Lochead on the other side - i.e. pushes forward well, and provides an overlapping option down the right. We'd certainly be more penetrative with such an option, so that's why I'm looking at Elrich. He's also still very young, so converting him into a full-time fullback could pay dividends further down the line.

What, no Kenny Sansom?
Sacrilege.
