Just introduce zero points for a scoreless draw. That would be enough to open things up. However there is plenty of strategy involved in the defensive game which may then get ignored. Until FIFA international tournaments would advocate any differences in the point system, why educate the players in adopting something that may restrict the way things are at the moment? The transition from the local game to the international game may be an even bigger gap in strategy being employed for some players and coaches. It's like English teams not readdressing their playing style when they are playing in Europe against European teams in the 90s, they got totally trashed. such new systems are ok for a short mini tournament between various team types but for a regular league season, you asking to educate the players with less concept of defensive strategy which would just totally suck. Also it would totally be advantageous to the top teams when they knock in numerous goals and then the playing for the league title would be over in half the season gone. I can't see having point for goals would help any exciting close title runs at the season's end or allow the underdog a chance at nabbing game and be close on the point table. It will deflate the game and less people will turn up to the matches if they are not close to nabbing a higher place on the table or fancying their chances on succeeding or avoiding relegation. I imagine that the lower teams would play in front of empty crowds towards the seasons end. It would be totally bias towards the top teams and most teams would lose more crowd numbers in the latter part of the season.

Then clever teams would score a goal each, then start playing for real.
No actually, the more smart ones would not risk letting the first goal in and be the first to score and then take the 3 points for win. Just like a normal game, they are playing for real at the beginning and pushing for at least a goal but would be rewarded for some attacking effort. Think about it.AllWhitebelievr2010-07-21 17:47:08
