When should I go about booking flights for the home semi? Do you think the club will communicate openly about when they want that fixture to be played?

Need to wait until after the VUC game. Nix win that then yes, Nix will finish either 1st or 2nd, and it's a confirmed 2 leg home & away semi final.

Nix lose to the VUC and they could finish 3rd, and be into the Elimination Finals, ie play 6th at home in a one off game. Final positioning maybe not confirmed until April 27th.

This is what the Sky Stadium availability looks like during May

Sky Stadium:

Friday May 3rd – unavailable
Saturday May 4th – available
Sunday May 5th – available

Friday May 10th – unavailable
Saturday May 11th – unavailable
Sunday May 12th – unavailable

Friday May 17th – unavailable
Saturday May 18th – available
Sunday May 19th – available

With the Better Home & Living Show on between 10-12th May, we would most likely to have to play the Away leg of any Semi Final first right?

Air NZ has an Aussie Sale on this week & includes dates in May ...

3/4 teams are in NSW and easy enough to get a Sydney/Melbourne flight if we face the Victory.

Someone said Home and Living had been moved?

There was an event scheduled for Sky Stadium, same dates as weekend of the ALM Grand Final (25-26th May).

I understand that event has now been moved to a different weekend to avoid a potential clash.

Assuming we make top 2, we get to choose which leg we host. You'd want to be playing the second leg at home surely to win in front of a home crowd.

Both Melb City and CCM (top 2 last year) played the away leg of their semis first up

Looks like Saturday or Sunday of that weekend will be fine to host. I don't think we'd be looking to play on the Friday anyway - get far more of a crowd Saturday evening

Imagine having a season where this is what we’re worried about at this stage, not if players are still going to play well after signing elsewhere, how we’re a club that can never keep good players, we lack mental toughness etc etc!

Some days I miss the old days of angst over whether it will be us or CCM that end up with the wooden spoon.

Davila suspended for two games, with Adelaide playing MacArthur up next at home looking likely they'll make it 4 wins in 4 and potentially make that 5 in 5 playing Western the next game before facing the CCM. Adelaide will be very much up for it against CCM as they'd be right in the mix for a playoff finish.

With the win last night, a Top 2 spot is now locked in. As expected, the current plans are for the Away Leg to be the weekend of the 11th May & Home Leg the weekend of the 18th May. Domey working on getting confirmed dates & getting tickets on sale asap.

oh, I'm surprised - would they actually go on sale before the season is done? The way Dome words it, it sounds like it may be as early as next week?

Maybe the first week or 2 will be sales to members which would allow you lot plenty of time to pick where you want to sit. Any idea how many members there are? When the warriors sold finals tickets last time there was barely any for the public after members bought 8 tickets each 😅

To be fair with the Wahs they sold a membership at the end of the season for the sole purpose of locking in finals seats.

Smart move as they had been selling out the stadium.

Far out, that low?  I figured with the consistent 5-8k we pulled over the years there would be at least 4k with memberships.

They used to do things like this at the Nix. A last four or 3/4 membership with early bird finals tickets could have been a thing before Sydney…

They also had a Northern membership for two AKL games and a Hams game at one point.

At one point they were calling people to remind them to renew their memberships. I think probably a lot of members stopped getting memberships when the team was in Australia and never re-started. The number used to be higher than 2k.

nah I bought one of those to get finals tickets. Members still got in ahead of us (fair enough). When it was open to those who had bought the 'post season membership' most of the seats were already gone - I was lucky to get a seat at the 20m mark with the fam. Once it got opened up to those who hadn't paid anything there were like less that 500-1k remaining

On another note the nix should consider doing something similar. I'd be happy to pay $100 or something knowing I'd be purchasing tickets before the general public but after the members. Otherwise the nix likely don't get a cent from ticket sales

Not really though. I wouldn’t think we’ve ever had more than 3k members in the past decade, these numbers were pulled from the 2019-20 season (2 weeks before the first game) where I’m sure this would have been a pretty high membership count for us due to the fact we were doing pretty well the previous seasons and the economic boom in 2019..
Our average home attendance in 2019/20 was 8,620.

Memberships are certainly a far bigger thing in Australian sport generally.

The AFL & NRL clubs talk about them all the time, and yeah alot of it is about priority ticketing for finals. They have infant (age 2-5), junior memberships and the like to boost the numbers.

With the AFL, lots of parents put their new borns on the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) waiting list at birth. MCC members get priority access to big AFL games including the Grand Final. There is a 40-year wait for a full MCC membership.

Basically culturally sports memberships are a big thing in Aussie.

Maybe people don't overthink as much as me but would it still be likely I would get a ticket even if they did members first? Because I am not a member but I go to all the home games and wouldn't want to miss out. Just be keen to know if it would be not likely I would get a ticket

Nah you’ll defenitely get a ticket. Just make sure you are aware when they go on public sale. I imagine we could get upwards of 20k to the game but the tickets won’t all go straight away, especially that they seem to be planning to get them on sale in the coming week

Memberships are an Aussie thing mostly used for cheap piss at the associated sports club facilities.

It's not a thing anywhere else in the world pretty much, although it's used in the Prem as a way of extracting cash out of people who will never get to a Liverpool game etc.

I'd be shocked if it isn't a sell out honestly. There are a lot of long aggrieved nix fans who will be travelling in from all over NZ

This was part of the reason why I asked Domey if he could confirm the dates. To get a huge crowd at the Stadium, you need fans to travel from all over the Lower North Island. A month is a good amount of lead in time for people.

A month's notice would allow Capital Football to move any fixtures that clash, so as many fans as possible can attend.

I personally think the only game that would sell out would be the GF. I'm in Chch and haven't been to a Nix game in years. While I'd love to fly up for a semi final, cost of living makes it hard for many so some would probably just stay home and watch on TV. GF I'll be on the first plane to Welly though

I'm less worried about home semifinal logistics right now than I am about our chances of claiming the plate in our last regular season game. More interested in being at that if we are still in with a chance of winning that in two week's time. Still really hoping that it is in our own hands after next weekend...

Both the Nix and CCM play at the same time during Rnd 26. So if it comes down to the last round, that will make for compelling TV. Us at the ground will have to have 1 eye on our phones.
