im keen to go to some ay. Would be flying from Aucks, need to make it a group thing and get it all properly organised!
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I reckon it depends on how organised the fan groups get.

I live in Queensland..I will go to Suncorp when the Phoenix come or Ballymore.( God I hope they don't play in ballymore.) And maybe even a roadtrip down to Sydney when they play there.

currently living in london on OE however will be back to gold coast later this year! I'll go to as many games in aussie as possible! Will be there for the Roar match for sure! Guess i'll make more away matches than home

None for me but for a semi or final I wiull be there.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Just turned down a trip to Athens 8K, so I'll spend some of that triping across to Oz.
It will be quicker to get to Sydney than it was driving to Auckland previously.

A Wellington game is an away game for me!

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I guess it will be hard to travel away.  I guess fans on the Warriors and the Breakers probably experience that same problems.  Travelling to Australia is not a cheap operations.

May be we could charter an aircraft!!!!!! LOL

I would love to travel, but unfortunatlly dont think the Uni funds want to cover the costs. Im happy with the 10 home games.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I'll go to the one in Melbourne :p and hopefully I can get back for a home game in Welly.

Maybe we can target one or two away games that we could get a good deal from a travel agent for.

You guys have got to come to Melbourne! The Telstra Dome is pretty sweet, it's easy to get to and is right in the city.

I'm moving to Europe the day after the season's first game. But If I have any trips back home will probably throw in a weekend in Aus, so if an away game is on i'll be there.

2 weeks into the season, and most people will not bother travelling to the Cake Tin to watch WP games

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

It's that positive, kiwi, 'can do' attitude that made the Knights such a success Frankie.  Well done.

Is it my fault?  Do you think it will only happen because I bought it up?

It's classic 'have a bet each way' whinging; if it's a flop you can feel justified and if it's a success you can feel safe in the knowledge that no one will remember your input. It's passive aggressive bullsh*t, mate, get over yourself.

thank you doctor Crane.

Can't we just keep a sense of perspective about this?  Everyone is talking about massive crowds at the cake tin, and now large groups flying to Australia every 2nd week to watch the team.  Basic facts are that (aside from a number of people on here) attendance to games will depend on how well the team is doing, and realistically in the first season, it will do alright, at best.  That means that we can expect "alright" attendance.  If the Wellington Hurricanes get 20,000 people when they are doing "alright" (not sure what the attendance was vs the Warratahs when they are in mid-table, and boosted by Tana's farewell, but imagine it was around that) then an "alright" attendance for the WP (in my humble opinion) will be around 5,000.

Cant see that happening people in wellington tend to support a team better than that even when the hurricanes and wellington teams have not been playing well they have had support.Dont think fans here in wellington will be that fickle. If we are just kidding ourselves that those on here will not support the team then maybe that will be true or are many on here just posting bullsh*t.

Think you under estimate the level of support for the Phoenix.I have not had much to do with local football for many years, but I and I think more than a few like me are bloody determined to follow this team whatever.A chance to not only shove it up the Aussies but show the Auks that we can do.

The blood runs  yellow and black in this house.

if they do well, and sign juninho then the crowds will come in, but as u heard riki say

Meanwhile, Herbert yesterday laughed off speculation from across the ditch that the Phoenix are chasing former star Brazil midfielder Juninho.

"Next thing you know we'll be signing Zico."]

wow i didnt know riki was interested in past it players LOL

I think the Phoenix has a good chance of getting 10k+ average crowds. Most people in Welly are aware of them now (Mexted even mentioned it when the canes were playing once)

Yeah, 10k+ is a good estimae for the average...For the first game I reckon there be around 20k people there.

Sorry if I missed your 'perspective' in your statement that within 2 weeks no one would go to the ground!
