How many import spots do we have left? 2 isn't it? or is it 3?

If it's two, then is one player out of George, Cleberson and Ki Hyun Lee going to miss out?

This is what I have been wondering about, sign the two brazilians I say we need a top shelf striker all the good teams in the A-league have top strikers.

Or we could just forget George and sign Lee and Cleberson and get John Aloisi to fill our marquee spot, c'mon Terry get the cheque book out, $400-500k a season should do it and he would love to play with Ross.

If $900k won't do it then I doubt $400k would

From what I understand the club and the player have agreed on salary, etc., the hold up appears to be with work permits or medicals.

I've been told that both Cleberson and George have their bags packed and are ready to leave just as soon as the i's have been dotted and the t's crossed.

Your kidding yourself if you think coveny ,smeltz and brownlie will score the number of goals required.
Coveny has scored 8 in 30 appearances in the A league, while Brownlie and Smeltz both managed only 2 goals last season. although Brownlie played in league 2 while Smeltz played in the conference .

I'm very curious about that myself.  I assume Ricki is covering all bases in case either any of the transfers fall through due to work permit or fitness issues.  Daniel is here now and fully sorted out, but Felipe Campos, Cleberson and George are all waiting for clearance.  It is sensible to keep checking out all options for future signings in case any of the deals fall through.

Benjamin, what are the criteria for work permits in NZ, obviously not as strict around being from country in top 75 rankings like in the UK. Does it come down to national security issues?

I would think this would be rather straightforward?

Any clues

Sorry mate, I have no idea.  I think work permits for Aus/NZ must be a lot easier for pro footballers than they are in England/the EU.  I think that stuff gets sorted out by the agent/club in the buying country.  Lunatic would have a better idea than me.

It's normal immigration bureaucracy. When we got Daniel's the Consulate in Brazil said it could take from 15 days to 3 months. We got Daniel's in a week though.
