We could all go to Palmy and join Black Vomit if we really care that much about the name. And colour.

makes my name seem more appropriate, but I think every We3llingtonian associates the colour yellow with sporting teams. Yellow was the only colour to choose, I chose my name because it was another horrible disease with a colour in the name.

Yellow Fever is the perfect name and the strip will eventually fiollow suit. WE SET THE TRENDS!!!

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

This is old ancient history.

But v quickly:

Wellingtons local colours are yellow and black (and, really, yellow is its defining colour, just like red is Canterburys black is like the background). Thats where it started.

Yellow Fever preceded name of franchise (ie Phoenix) and preceded kit (ie black).

We had to guess somewhat the colour of strip. Got it wrong. Down the track the strip may have more yellow in it, who knows? In any case, the phoenix colours, ie scarves, other merchandise, marketing etc is a black and yellow combo (its only really the strip that is bereft of yellow).

But for the meantime, just enjoy the ridiculous irony of yellow fever supporting a team that doesnt wear any yellow. I think its quite amusing, and we certainly aint rebranding so get used to it

I was told it's  from the colours of Wellington College, which was the first school in the region and played the most organised sport, including the first game of inter-college rugby in NZ against Nelson College. All the Wellington rep teams just followed suit. It's kinda interesting that the Hurricanes are the only professional sporting team from Welly with a predominantely yellow kit these days actually.
