Or there is still alot of Nix fans living in Auckland (Welly expats?) who haven't been converted to Auckland FC.
Does it matter where they are from they are supporting the away team and thats an impressive effort.
LG just stated more travelling Nix fans than travelling AFC fans. That may not be the case.
The Phoenix have been around 17 years, it just figures they have over that time had a fan base in the 09, and some of them have stayed loyal to the Nix despite AFC launching. And yeah a number will be parking themselves in the Away section at Mt Smart. Semantics stuff, but likely true.
Another for the why Ticketmaster is shark column: I am attempting to buy one ticket for the GA section and it won’t let me proceed with just one ticket. I can with two though.
I know sometimes you can’t leave single seats isolated, but I am trying to buy an unallocated seat!
That’s on mobile, hopefully I’ll have better luck on my laptop tonight.
I had converted two of my mates to being nix fans. They are Tron/Auckland born and breed, but their support is now wavering. I've got them tickets in the zone for this one with hopes of reaffirming their commitment to the nix.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

I wonder who Jeff Vader now supports.
what happened to that guy? Maybe he has popped up on the NL Forum as The Promoter.
I do wonder sometimes if people have passed, been banned or just can’t be fudgeed
I hope Junior is ok
I’m pretty sure I walked onto the pitch last year behind Junior82 after the last regular season game. I was going to talk to him but figured he has his reasons why he’s no longer on the forum. Was happy to see that he’s still attending games.
Vader did resurrect his account to comment on the state of the football ferns a couple of months ago.

He commented earlier in the year after the Melbourne Victory game when we scored the penalty to draw the match and some Nix fans caused trouble at the away end.
I took a hiatus for a few years myself and was quite surprised and saddened at how quiet this place has become. Off-topic is basically dead. So many threads which had regular posts have become ghost towns.
People have better things to do I suppose, can't blame them, but wish they would come back. Jessie Merino
How're we feeling with this being our next game? I'm cautiously optimistic about this. The players get a week to rest heading into the derby and we've captured some momentum against the Mariners and Melbourne Loss. As long as Josh doesn't get nerves I think we could at least expect a draw.
Also they only need to sell 104 tickets to officially sell out the entire stadium so expect an electric atmosphere

Depends a lot on how Kosta, Payne and Sutts are by then. That lot, plus a bit more of Rojas and we can be reasonably confident, I'd like to think.
I liked what Sterjovski said after the AFC Macarthur game. There was a fair bit of fuss being made about the four clean sheets and Auckland being hard to break down. Sterjovski basically said nah, we made plenty of chances and should have buried two in the first half. And when AFC were defending deep in the second half we were still creating chances. Not a problem.
How many of you guys are coming up for the derby? Would the yellow fever be interested in playing against The Port as a potential curtain raiser? I think that’ll be quite cool. If you are interested let me know and I can pitch it to the AFC bosses
image.jpg3.22 MB Hey team I was the lucky recipient of 6 flags from the unite round. I will hand them out around the fever so we can wave them around when the players walk out / pre match. I will request that I get them back though. Cheers
Lots of folks posting on the AFC Supporters FB page now, desperately searching for tix. Wonder if they will look at taking the 3rd derby game to Eden Park.
Great effort to sell out Mt Smart, but is going to be a few disappointed casuals.

The Port have started a Ticket Swap and Sell Thread (all areas of the ground I'm guessing apart from the Away section), if any Nix fans are looking a ticket https://www.facebook.com/groups/878898400329819
Sold out, that sulks. Flying into NZ after a five year absence and had my heart set on going to support my beloved Nix. Been trying for weeks to book a single ticket with Ticketmaster.

Slide into Domey's DMs, maybe some of the player's friends/family tickets might be going spare.
I made the mistake of buying 3x 50 dollar tickets with lounge access - they were actually children's tickets and half price. Ticketmaster were good enough to give me a refund. Suspect they've had a few people accidentally buy the higher priced ones.
They've also released tickets in weird places - like initially they release every second row of the stadium aside from some large stands. I had to wait until like 2 weeks ago for them to release tickets right in the centre just above the entrance/exit for the players. Glad I waited as they're ideal seats and cheap

Hey mate, check your DM's on here and I'll see if I can sort one for ya.
I got tickets weeks ago, at that point they had two Nix zones at polar opposite ends of the ground, one of which was up in the nosebleeds overlooking the Port. I got tickets in the section on the other end of the stadium from the Port because who wants to be near them? But it looks like I've been moved over to that Nix section anyway. How annoying is it that they have the home and away active zones right next to each other. Does this organisation know anything about football? But at least it looks like most of the Nix fans should be in the same place now?
It's inevitable some gents will turn it into a dick measuring contest (who can get the most away fans bla bla bla) but how good is it having multiple games with 20k+ numbers and a little spice involved... for a football game in NZ! Unreal.
I think moving to Eden Park would be suicide. Terrible atmosphere, too far away from the field. Even if you got 50,000 people, I genuinely think one boring atmosphere would take out 75% of people from attending again.
Contrast that with the exclusivity that is generated at Mt Smart by having it sell - people will be buying derby tickets weeks in advance next time round. Reading this thread, it sounds like Phoenix could have twice as many travelling fans next time round.

Sounds like a good opportunity for a rendition of “if I had the wings of a sparrow” 😂
