The Phoenix players don't even look all that more talented.

Serious red flags here.

Not a great half, Ishige and Nagasawa need to be showing more against lower league opposition like this.

Hopefully a good team talk and some changes in the 2nd half to get us over the line

Insipid.

Glad I have work tonight. Not going to bother with the second half. That was absolute dog shark.

Best be some subs at halftime, irks me so much Nagasawa rolling around on the ground against these guys… you’re playing awful. Get on with it and do something

Just remembered this was on. Judging by the comments I’m glad I didn’t watch the first half.

Hope to see the new guys on straight away in second half so can have a look.

Auckland will rise once more

This feels like previous seasons. Our best players have left, kids get promoted, barely no signings and struggling to string 3 passes together against some amateur side from who knows where...

Neither Rosa Conchie or Nagasawa answering questions about their abilities as 8s.

Like Smith, he struggles to kick the ball past halfway.
Other thoughts
Payne looks rusty, on a yellow, early sub?
Roa Conchie, aren't midfielders meant to be good at passing? His are bobbly, misdirected by a yard killing the move, and sometimes intercepted. Not looking A league standard today.
LKH IMO is getting better and better. Got some real skill.
Poor overall so far. Lots of effort, no result.

Eamonn McCarron makes a little bit of history today as he becomes the youngest goalkeeper to make his competitive debut in Wellington Phoenix club history!

He's got about 6 months over Keegan Smith (I'll do the math on this later).

Congratulations lad. 👏

Put the kids back in the Central league where they are better suited.

No excuse for the poor passing and control. If Welnix and those in charge are happy with whats being shown this early in the new season they need to stand down. Its just unacceptable

Need our wingbacks to get higher and wider, especially in the attacking third

Conchie shouldn't be expected to hold our midfield, the imports should be doing that... but they aren't on attack or d.

There has been nothing up top to get excited about. Complete dross. 65% possession and not 1 decent chance.

Sums up chief ball, only normally it's 30% possession and no shots.

We don't need to worry about getting a visa CB. Throw the visa money at a #10 who can actually do something in the final ⅓.

Was actually just wondering how this game would play out with Greenacre on the sideline instead of Chiefy

This is just embarrassing.

We're fudgeing walking around in midfield and slowing it right down to a snails pace when it's coming out from the back.

And now that we've gone 70 minutes of doing absolutely piss all, they'll just continue to drop deeper and deeper and close up all space across the park because we clearly have no one who can break a game open, or work some magic in those close areas. This is why a creative player should be a priority over a CB...

Even if we get out of this with a win, today has already felt like a loss. And even then, it's no guarantee we win this from here!

If we lose, then they can all swim home for all I care.

We are been very aggressive with our women signings... but our men... well, let's just hope.

Eze looking ok, but Armiento is not good enough to change our team.

Ultimately it's because they know that Chiefy is not worth backing. And there are too many poor players contracted into this season wasting our budget already. Honestly feels like the club is treating this mens season like a write-off. When you look at who's contracted, you see why.

I agree, they definitely know. I think it's a risky move though, another shark season and we'll have hemorrhaged all the casuals to AFC completely. We're losing the battle for any hearts and minds and I'm not convinced that's wise.
