So seems Auckland dont want Nix fans at the away Derby on the 6th of December. They are charging $59 for tickets,CCM tickets in January are $40.
Certainly hope the Nix repeat it for their fans.

I think what Ballane is referring to is that Nix fans are being charged more than any other away supporters in Auckland.

Newcastle away fans only have to pay $35

Also looking at tickets for MacArthur on the 22nd in the section where my season ticket is pretty sure tickets are $10 cheaper than what the derby was and $10 can be a difference to some.

They've made all tickets for the Derby in AKL more expensive. GA/Port tixs has gone up from $28 for Brisbane, to $39 for Derby.

Some of the 'nice' tickets are currently surged up to $120!

More demand = higher prices.. or am I missing something there?

Think they are preety confident they can fill it and hit 23k even by increasing the cost by 10 bucks per ticket.

It may however mean they don’t add temporary seating on the bank which I’m not sure how much it costs them but probably a bit.

Usually I’m against this money making approach but for the derby and atmosphere I’m ok with it.

you sound like a shareholder of the club - "I dont usually like price hikes with increased demand, but if my lot do it then yeah ok, sure it makes me more money so ill let it slide."

Pretty much. Both derbies at Mt Smart last season were sold out, Nix brought a massive following on both occasions. AFC have started this season well and won probably the best and certainly most hotly contested derby to date on Saturday.

Put all those things together and you would imagine tickets will sell like hot cakes.

Three for me, and two for them.

anti-fan though, even ultra capitalist EPL has a price cap of 30 pounds for away tickets - which is just a tick more expensive than AFC are charging and fans in England are very likely to have lower transport costs and not likely to require added accommodation costs.

For me the issue is that home active fans are only being charged $39 compared to the away fans being charged $59. Both sets of active fans should really have parity with what they are charged (outside of the home team's season ticket discounts of course).

Look at the Sydney Derby, which is the biggest Derby in our league. For the WSW home Derby both sets of active fans are being charged the same 30AUD - and that's in a scenario where the away fans don't have any real extra travel costs unlike in the NZ derby.

A derby doesnt really work if the away fans are priced out of showing up, you run the risk of getting a smaller travelling support which ruins what makes a derby atmosphere special.

The Sydney Derby seems to be doing it right in making sure both sets of active fans are treated equal when it comes to pricing.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing an away ticket price cap like the Premier League - it might help encourage more away support, especially considering how much further you have to potentially travel in this league compared to England

The Sydney derby would have roofs over all stands.

It does suck but it’s obviously just done to the fact they wouldn’t want to have the two sets of fans together in the poor man’s south stand where the cheaper 39 buck tickets are.

And for the home fans who paid for a roof above them, they may get pissed if Nix supporters paid less then them.

The way to fix it would be to also have cheap tickets for away fans on the grass embankment at the other end. But then people would bitch about sitting on the muddy grass and being treated as second class citizens.

It’s basically down to not having as flash a stadium as Sydney or even Wellington 😂

Agree with both Bullion and Half a Pint about capping away ticket prices. The problem here is if the loyal Nix fans travel up in their masses again, selling out the away bays, AFC will not learn any lessons and certainly won't consider changing their mind on pricing.

It's a shark way to go about it but not turning up in protest will be the only way to effectively get a message across.

Three for me, and two for them.

Temp stand on the grass with no roof, like the semi final? An extra expense but if they think they can sell out all the seated areas anyway, it might end up making them more money. (I know this wouldn’t actually be done, just spit balling)

Or I noticed the lower tier tickets are cheaper than the upper tier ones (also not really protected by the roof in many cases), so that would help with the pricing difference, and put the away fans in a spot they really should be in the first place.

Yep, agree, the lower tier, should have been offered up.

Such a dick head move. Maybe Auckland is just that rotten fish. I’d love to see how this scores on their template for promoting OFC football- we put all away fans miles from the ground and charge them more. Than our fans and than other club’s fans. Wonder if they hired consultants to help them with these suggestions?

We’ve decided not going up for this one. It’s so shark being stuck up on that corner and at those prices. Plus having AFC fans sitting in our area, and also all coming in to the zone celebrate etc.

Will do an Aussie away trip instead and maybe do Auckland again next season
4 months ago
Auckland showing they’re only in it for themselves. Colour me surprised. Away being shark? Fair enough, home advantage, but don’t charge more than the home fans ffs. Pathetic.

For all this sucks for people whose travel was disrupted this weekend, I’m selfishly relieved it didn’t happen a week later:

Airbus A320 software updates have been completed on all New Zealand based Jetstar aircraft, while Air New Zealand's fleet remain grounded with further flight cancellations possible.

About 6000 Airbus A320 aircraft around the world are affected by a recall for a software upgrade.

Airline passengers around New Zealand have been caught up in cancellations. Disruptions will likely continue as airlines deal with a backlog of flights.

Apparently only just over 400 seats sold in the away bay.

So when AFC come back for the second game, make a point, $70 a ticket. I don't care if only 5 show up or that they whinge on here or Facelessbook.  Fans from both clubs should unite and tell AFC to wind their fudgeing heads in. Do you want a full ground with a great atmosphere or not? Fan power could fix this.

It was the same thing last time we played them but we failed.  It is annoying we have to play them again so soon when we haven't played 6 of the other teams yet.

We are their biggest rival, but AFC will also have a smaller one going into this, Crossbar FC.

Not to be that guy but AFC fans could buy tickets anywhere else because there's plenty of space...

The problem with away tickets cheaper than the same area, is that clowns will buy them because "they're cheaper". So you'd have to implement some kind of system to check away area is being bought by away fans. (Which is probably a good idea anyway...)

Why isn’t this a thing in the country anyway? I.e, be a member, member of a supporters club or buy via the away club. It makes complete sense to avoid this idiocy.

Absolutely, just needs a bit of operational maturity from both clubs. Give the away team an allocation and let the away team sell them.

Trouble is the lines of communication apparently arnt the best with one of them making it very hard to co-operate over many things.
Apparantly away fans dont have any issues.

$50 to watch the Phoenix at Sky Stadium is pretty wild tbh.

We should be paying $20-$30 a playing in a smaller, more community-oriented stadium.

There is always the risk of going for the cheaper option which ends up being more expensive, or to use a non-football simile, cost of a cheaper ferry also includes the cost of cancelling the order for the more expensive ferry.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Football on a ferry sounds like a fun little gimmick. World's first fully-transportable home ground?

You might be onto something.  There are parallels. For example, our performances last season were up and down, and we felt like throwing up all the time. And best not to draw too many comparisons with being "rudderless" too often.

I’m been thinking that the best chance of a win would be Chief changing things up and not playing a high line this game.

If he does start it however, he should quickly revert to a low block if his team scores and goes ahead and over the last 30 mins.

Number of reasons:

1: AFC likely have been preparing all week assuming they will be facing it. So play the element of surprise.

2: The major weakness of AFC on defence at the moment is in possession Brook is floating on the inside and Elliot is pushing up very high on the right.

Therefore on turnover there is always a major gap on the  left which can be exploited. Elliot is to high to get back and Brook doesn’t have the pace to move from his central position to cover if the whole of the field is being used.

Perfect for both Carlos and Eze to flood that area and over load it. This however works best when there is space on the field, while the use of the high line just compresses that space on turnover.

3: I don’t think any nix defender could compete with the pace of Randall.

If they did then sure, play it but I think any person here would expect at least one goal with involvement by Randall due to the high line this game.

If it’s two like last time then it’s likely a loss.

So, this game I hope Chief has the ability to adapt and even if he starts it, that he has the ability to change it quickly as I can’t imagine it working over 90 mins. AFC also have some pace back from injury and suspension in Francoise and Rogerson and later on in the game when Cosgrove comes off and Randall more central, with defenders tiring it becomes even more dangerous.

Thing is though the guys have been working so hard on getting the system right not sure i would be wanting them to change things back and risk a drop in confidence if it dosnt come off.
Would much prefer they went at Auckland early as they did in the first half against Adelaide. You never know Eze and Carlo hit the target no reason they cant be up early. Hoping their defence wont handle our guys if they come at them the same way they did Adelaide in that first half.
Eze to catch Woud out pissing around at the back.
