Gives more interest for when the Roar are playing , that is a bonus, I like watching other NZ players in Aussie teams.
All the best Costa. You tried here but others were preferred, hope you get on the field at Brisbane, will be cheering you all the way.

I knew this was happening, saddens me coz I really like him and he excites me, great talent. But it is good to see more NZ talent spread around the A-League, now we have kiwis at Melbourne, Brisbane, North Queensland, Central Coast & Gold Coast...pretty good only 4 teams to go lol.
Best of luck to the lad, hope he does well. Hope he is back in stripes one day.
Wonder what kind of deal (if any) we offered him?

Well, one has proven himself this week to be a c**t. One has buggered off to the other homeland, and the other is getting splinters... did I forget anyone?

No question he has unbelievable talent. But it seems Ricki wasn't really prepared to "risk" playing youth much. Hope it was done on the best terms so relationshiop with Ricki is good.
[/QUOTE]
Im not sure that I saw any evidence of unbelievable talent to be honest buit I wish him well. have to be honest I never really saw how he would fit into the system that we play

LOL, that doesnt matter to me, I still like to see them play, and hope they do well against other clubs. Considering they are our All Whites candidates too adds interest

Well done Costa..an obvious move for a young player looking to make his career and play more than he has..must be so frustrating for him...and Marco... to not get weekly game time. Sure to get a good welcome back when he returns.

Assuming we get a kiwi youth player it seems fine to me. Just getting another NZer in the a-league

So I guess this means not much chance of a youth / 2nd Team in the NZFC happening any time soon ?

Suprising but good move for him. Dissapointed to see him go but I guess it means we'll be finding some more new youth next year which is always gonna be promising and exciting

I thought Brisbane were a team who regularly featured youth players and had a few who were ready to make it to the first team.

Well done Costa, best of luck, can't wait to see you getting some game time and destroying the opposition, you tell Ricki 'I told you so' but do come back to Wellington when you peak please.
Brisbane always seem to be a good club for giving youngers guys a go and nuturing young talent.

All you guys said the same when Smeltz left.
Bet there will be a another story if he bangs a few goals against us?

You are missing the point. The bloke was God to you supporters, now he is a nob? You know f**k all about football. It is only the fact that he left, that you are pissed off. Grow up?
Smeltz left in controversial circumstances. There was lots of talk that he was illegally approached early by GCU, and also talk that his wife was given a high paying job by one of Clive's companies. A few days ago, he slagged off the Phoenix to the media. OF COURSE HE'S A KNOB!
Mossy was up there too. How many people slag him? (wellyphoenixfan excluded). What about Kwasnik?
IMHO, players who leave with respect deserve respect. Players who leave disrespecting the club ie Smeltz, Dodd etc deserve to be treated as knobs.
Edit - had to rush out the library, so forgot to mention - Best of luck to Costa, hope this move works out well for him. Just wish it wasn't to dirty Brisbane...

He's the most potent striker we have and it's a shame for us he's leaving.

potent, unlikely......he looked likely a couple pf times but has only score once or twice for us - if memory serves....limited chances I know but he's not that threatening against big defenders, too small too light to be a real target man which is what we need going forward.

hardly the most potent striker...too small to trouble a league defenders and never really got game time and I presume that his style of play didnt fit in with Rikki's

So Costa Barbarouses clearly sees the writing on the wall and is off to Brisbane. Siggy is now on the outer and could be next. There's always City and the Fifa Club World Cup Ben.
In - Greenacre, Ifill, Reddy, Cacares and Dadi.
Only three NZers will probably get any real game time from now on.
What happened to the whole notion of a NZ team in the A League providing a pathway to the professional game for local talent? Above says it all really.
PS - congratulations on making the playoffs, but who are you?

The good news is that I'm sure wayward and all those with an emotional stake in Auckland City will have told chairman Ivan that they now see why the Phoenix need a youth/reserve team in the NZFC and will have campaigned for Ivan to support that and encourage it as a decision out of the NZFC chairmans meeting that is on this weekend.
I wonder if Ivan enjoyed the Australian football last night ?

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

If you truly care about NZers having the opportunity to develop a professional football career and for our youth to have a team to aspire to play for ask not what the Phoenix can do for you but what you can do for the Phoenix.
The NZ FA should be doing all it can to secure the Nix's future in the A-League and the NZ FA and NZ FC should be doing all it can to facilitate the Nix youth team.
Are they ?
What are you doing to assist ?

He obviously lacked experience (as mentioned several times, because of no reserve/youth team), but has the pace to trouble A-League defenders and the ability to trouble them. I actually thought/hoped he would bulk up more over the last few years. Will be interesting to see how he goes.

It is really good to see the support he has being getting.I was making the point about Shane S. since he left us.
Will all the people still say the same about this young bloke if he starts scoring against us.
It is interesting to see that a lot of people don't rate Costa-- I have always thought that he had a lot of potential and with the right coaching he will be an outstanding player.
The Roar coach will do the job as he had had many years as National coach for the youth teams-- that is his strength.

It is solely (partially) the fault of your lot that there's no pathway to the professional game for local talent. Without the Phoenix there'd be even less opportunity.
And for the record, while it's always nice to develop locals that isn't the clubs priority. Priority is getting results. I have no problem with a club with no local players if that happens to be the case. While it'd be disappointing if this happened in NZ bare in mind it isn't the job of the Phoenix and even if it was the NZFC clubs clearly want to be difficult and to stop this development.
I know he's a troll but he's also an idiot and I had to respond.

The reason Sigmund is on the outer is that he punched a bloke in the face and his replacements aren't conceding goals. Anyway....yawn. So if Paston wasn't broken, and Sigmund wasn't stupid, we would have 5. Is that enough for you?
