fred, what, two appearances was it? good grief doesnt take much to get into a best eleven these days

No question that felipe had some talent under there but one memorable performance, in one season, in our worst ever team? doesn't quite do it for me

With fred and felipe your reasoning seems rather odd - performances before they arrived or contracts after they left are not things that affect selection in the best ever phoenix eleven. Seems like you're just desperate to have a playmaker in there even though the nix have never been successful with one.

all but one were in our team last season but that's fair innit?
I'd have Moss in. Also Daniel over Lia. Rojas for Greenie (but swapped in posi with Ifill)

There is a reason why Felipe (and not Brown) got offered a lucrative contract offer in Saudi.

8 games then out on loan

Can't have been a very good reason

Well you can take a topic like this 2 ways.

Who is the best player in each of the 11 positions to have played for the nix? Or who have made the biggest contribution?

If you take it the first way, I think most people would say that Fred and Felipe are better than Brown and Lia. But if you took it the second way, the latters have been here for numerous seasons so they would probably make a starting XI.

I still stand by my point that Brown goes missing just as much as Felipe did.

              Reddy
Muscat   Durante McKain   Lochead
          Aloisi   Lia
Rojas        Felipe       Ifill
              Smeltz

Bench:
Moss/Vukovic
Daniel
Ward
Bertos

Was tempting to put North or Hearfield into RB and push Manny into the midfield.

So taking it the 'first way' as you seem to be, i guess Barbarouses has to be there given his Roar form this year. Elliott's performances for the Galaxy and All Whites make him a shoe-in. He got an EPL contract too remember - you seem to think these things count. Elrich had an EPL contract too so I guess you'll pick him as well? He played well in the old NSL so has got to be in anyways/ Oh and Richard Johnson surely - played at a high level in England and scored against ManU - in fact that probably puts him in ahead of Felipe?

And where is your eleven? I assume you're just taking a bit of extra time to get yours just right - otherwise this just makes you a troll?

i also find it odd that you consistently claim an attacking midfielder should be in there ahead of a defensive midfielder. Would love to see how a side would cope with fred and felipe in the middle of a 4-4-2

Sometime I wish we had a face palm emotion on the forums.

And using the other method, Ferrante would be be there.  See what happens when you apply stupid logic?  You get stupid outcomes.

No he wouldn't. Lia and Brown have been far more valuable and have contributed more to the phoenix

Your argument has been very weak and is becoming weaker by the second - i mean seriously, fred in our best ever eleven??? Wow

Still no eleven from you either... cowardly is the word for that

You really can't see why he'd have Fred in there, or are you just trying to justify yourself?

Yeah - but i'm sure Lia's a much better player, because he's been at the club for so much longer which means he's a better player by default, or something.

You've said you would have fred in your side - not because of his performances or contribution to the phoenix, but because of his performances for other teams.

That makes my logic look like rocket science.

Thanking you kindly sir

well that works out to 33%, which is better than Lia's 7 million games and one goal - or is it two?

i think oska put it best when he said 'Fred ... was probably one of the very best but never had the chance to shine'

was such a pity we only had him for 3 games but surely you cant seriously put him in there, even if it is just to spite me for rarking up your bro

Well, yeah, I think Fred as he played for us is a better player on average than Lia is. Lia has the odd good game, but on average he isn't very good, I'd rather have Fred with the form he had when he played for us.

On that logic, Simon Elliott should be in there.

Elliott, Elrich, and Johnson never performed for us.  Felipe and Fred did, even if they were only here for a short time.  See the difference. I never said i was taking into account their performances for other clubs.

Well you put Paston in there for 'longevity' reasons.  So even if Ferrante wasn't the best, he did play 40 odd games for us.

For what it is worth.  Contemplated putting Siggy at CB and McKain at DM instead of Brown. But I can't really be bothered thinking any more about the topic.

Manny      Dura              McKain             Lochhead

                       Lia       Brown

Ifill                       Fred                          Rojas

Bench:
