Also, the people angsting about 'tittillating TV' are in the main not Phoenix fans but fans of other A-League clubs.

Just saying.

No probs with boob exposure here, just interesting that the media rep came on here to ask about it.

I dont see a problem with it. She was probably on the boob story, and another reporter was onto the story on the actual game. So game coverage + boob coverage (or lack of) = more phoenix stories = good thing.

from our point of view, the end result (++ coverage for the nix/their fans) aint the issue. it's just funny to see how NZs 'pretend to be serious' media operates. I like calling (most) journos out for what they really are, which is marketing/sales people.

D'oh. It is kind of cool they use this forum to an extent, although its mostly bad as they take posts off here and twist them completely out of context, that has happened more often. (case example could be my sarcastic post in the other thread turning to "Yellow fever dont want people along to games"). You sometimes have to be careful what you say on here for fear the media will be all over it,which almost defeats the purpose of a forum.

Best example being those thundersticks from last year.

After reading the discussion here a few weeks ago re the ladies tops off I was eagerly watching the latter stages of yesterday's game but I wasn't expecting bras underneath.

Boo-urn the Bra!

In this day & age no one should really give two hoots about ladies getting their tops off.

Well said Phil. And yes it is amazing out of 120 minutes and penalties all TVNZ wanted to know was who were those generously breasted ladies wearing the bras were.

To those ladies I say....thank you for entering into the spirit of a tradion of tops off.  It is good to see equality amongst the sexes and you showed true Phoenix support. Well done ladies. Oh and the lady whom had the yellow and black striped bra. 10 extra points for iniative.

Watched the replay and took in a lot of those crowd shots, fans united! I did laugh though at full time, all the non footie fans all started to leave the stadium until told about extra time!

Thats an unfair thing to say. Just because someone is covering the women with tops off, doesnt mean they dont also have someoen covering the actual game itself. If they have both, then theyre covering more phoenix related stories than usual.

Why not ask for the names of the guys with their tops off too? they've only been doing it for 3 years.

Still brialliant to see female fans entering into the spirit.

Embarassed, moi? Not after seeing all you guys with your tops off!
Much as I'd love more TV exposure, I will be in darkest Borneo in 2 days time so will have to leave it up to the other girls to continue fly the flag for female emancipation. Might have to take my lucky yellow and white bra with me though, as I'm going to miss the next game and I'm not sure the boys can win unless i have it on
And thanks for stating that we are actually there for the football, not to show off our assets, that is the most important thing!

Hey guys, before Hard News posts up a link to one of my music reviews I'll disclose that I work for TVNZ as well (although not as a Journalist, in fact I have nothing to do with the content of our news or current affairs shows)

Here's what I would say as a ordinary citizen who's views do not represent who he works for:
You could sit here and call certain media outlets bandwagon jumpers but perhaps the best thing to do is to still work with them for the benifit of the football club we all love as opposed to abusing them away.
Also as a few others have stated, one journo would have covered the game and another will pick up the human interest angle, this all equals more promotion for the Phoenix so should be welcomed.
Also, you can debate the quality of coverage as much as you like but I suspect most of you are in the habit of just not watching ONE News so might not even notice coverage given to the Phoenix anyway. I watch it out of loyalty and they do cover the Phoenix (there was a cringe worthy story in which Julie Ash got given a Phoenix kit at the beginning of the season plus all the matches have been rounded up)

I'm not going to get into a 1 vs 3 thing because I do think Gourdie is top notch (I even appeared on his pre Bahrain piece as one of the punters at the street skills thing lol)
For a real indication on each network's approach to football, you might like to ask him about TVNZ's 6-4 win over TV3 on the North Harbour outer recently ;)

Where were TVNZ when we were sh*t!

Heh, at any rate I'm happy with any coverage and if we're on Close Up taking a spot away from Cadbury changing another chocolate product, I'm all for it.

I'm still in shock that TVNZ even knew there was a game on. If they bothered to send someone (several people) to the game they would also know that there were 6 lovely ladies in Aslie 6 that took their tops off and not just the ones that were shown on TV. Someone with me even reckons one of these "ladies" flashed the players when they were doing their lap after the game, so sad I missed that

There was a TVNZ camera at the RoF in front of Aisle 24/23 for a fair while.  Pointe at the crowd mostly. But no surprise - Sky has the rights to what's on the field!

Well, possibly putting the boot in. (even I'll be using my personal email address when Paul Henry returns to Breakfast on March 1st to send a "how about them Phoenix, Paul?" to the Breakfast feedback email

This, just because you don't see a journo in front of you doesn't mean their network won't be covering it.

TVNZ's news coverage is mostly a reporter speaking over game coverage taken from Sky.
