How awesome would it be if we could somehow organize a chant for the guests?  EG the ground announcer could welcome them and then the fever belt out a welcome chant.

Sort of like a powhiri…….

Chant idea (to tune of "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by the Beach Boys):

Wouldn't it be nice to see the Phoenix

Thanks for coming down, you’re welcome here

And wouldn't it be nice to see a win too

But win lose or draw let’s have some beer!

Sh!t sorry UberGunner, that is a great offer, but yes Bethel Woods did contact me and offerlunch for the family which the family this week hasn't taken up. Not sure what I'll do with the weather if it is poor on Sunday.

Sorry also that I haven't contacted you for sponsorship I've actually been very lucky and had people contact me directly to offer help, the only people I've reached out to myself has been the Nix about the tickets, which they then offered the lounge passes and Trade Me for the Auction. Westpac, Exodus and Bethel contacted me.

I've never had a sick child who's had to be hospitalised (thank goodness), but would guess that maybe taking them to a crowded pub might not be top of the agenda anyway?

Yes and that maybe why the family hasn't taken the offer from Bethel Woods, we are also asking them to have a few hours out already with the football and that can be quite tiring for the child, so even more might be too much.

My two cents worth on whats been an amazing couple of weeks.Congrats to everyone!

The transition of Brandon's initial concept to Matt's fundraiser may seem like a deviation from the original "Grow the WP Crowd numbers" idea. Here's my take on it.

I believe it perfectly illustrates a fundamental about what can happen when a small group takes a bit of action.

By taking a step outside of our comfort zones and taking action and asking someone.... extraordinary things are possible.

The evidence is in this thread.

When we give our time, effort and money in a spirit of generosity without benefit coming back to us individually, we can initiate real change and make a real difference.

Who knows where this could go to and what's possible?

We can choose to take action.Or we can choose not to.Both choices perfectly okay.

There's power in what's been created here.I can think of a multitude of reasons why I wouldn't take action, ALL perfectly plausible, all valid.

Or... I can choose to park those justifications.. and just do it anyway, like Brandon said.

We could take the same approach we have seen in this thread with the original concept,

i.e.  by taking action and asking someone...

"Would you like to come to the Phoenix with us on Sunday" for instance..

..who know's what else is possible??

Love it RedGed, its amazing what has happen here.

On more good news, we have reached $2,000! You guys are amazing.

Also I have heard from the Dom Post and it looks like we will be getting an article in the paper of what we have done here.

Woohoo!! Now there's a possibility right there!

On that note, I'm putting my hand up and saying, since the dark days of Terry's deconstruction transitioning to the miracle of Wellnix, I've hung onto and on occasion voiced my poor opinion of the Dominion Post on here. Perhaps I need to let that old attitude go.

By re-creating the Dom Post as it was to me then, not as it could be now and in future, I've kept reinforcing an old stereotype.

I'll read with new eyes in future, DP. Please help me change :)

Unbelievable stuff. Hard to believe it started a few days ago with only the hope of sending a family to one game. Hope the Dom Post follow through and print something tomorrow.

Maybe the Dompost picked up on my cynical referal and are sending their IRD reporter to see you to establish any link between a former owner and this venture? I mean, hey, the Dompost writing something positive about Phoenix fans? get out of here.

Next point. As Matt will see on Sunday, I am giving because and only because..for just one moment in time if I have contributed into making one young persons life a special good moment during a time of hurt, then I will easily sleep a happy person. This applies to the family concerned but the main objective is the sick young one. That all of you have given so much is something I am immensley proud of. Hi fives all around for everyone.

Fire up day. Cool, cloudy, needs more fever chanting to warm up. Time to practice and get the throat in order for extra loud cheering. Don't forget the half time Yellow Fever scarf waving.

Alrighty, first game day with a family from Ronald McDonald House, I'm sure they are going to have an amazing day.

Raffle will be starting today, I'll be bring it along to the BackBencher to sell tickets which will be $2 a ticket, remember also to try get along to Bethel Woods for a Carlsberg as $1 from every one sold today will go towards the fund! Lastly, the Trade Me auction is still going for the six month membership to Exodus, it's currently on $100.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed and offered advice, what we have done here is AWESOME!

Raffle sold out. I think we raised somewhere around $400 with the raffle.

Plus a number of people came up to Matt and saw he had Yakcall on the back of his stripey and gave him money to add to the givealittle appeal. He will total that up and add it tomorrow.

Plus there's the $1 per Carslberg sold at Bethel Woods, and the place was JUMPING, and there was a LOT of Carlsbergs being drunk.

Plus there is the moeny from the gym membership auction.

I would not be surprised if we break $3000 after tonight.

Good Morning, was really nice to meet a lot of you yesterday and put faces/names to the people that have contributed here.

Family really enjoyed the game, two younger ones looked amazed and loved the scarves. The older one was a typical teenage boy, but I'm sure he was happy. Parents where thankful too. Very glad we had lounge passes with the wind and the rain or they might not have been able to stay.

The raffle has raised $413 which means we got some extra donations, I have also been given some money at the game to put on give a little.

Bethel Woods was pumping so I'm sure we sold quite a few Carlsbergs. Think I also told a few people off for not having one! :P

So be good to see what has come in there and we still have the Auction going too which finishes Thursday night.

Well done guys, we are now at $2,754.00 after the raffle and other donations on the weekend. Bethel woods is counting the Carlsbergs, think you guys all did well there too.

Don't forget we also have the Trade Me auction, if you could start pushing it on Facebook/Twitter would be really good. It's worth $500

Fantastic stuff Matt. Great to see it finally get an article too. Bought a Dom Post for the first time in years yesterday to see it (or possibly ever as I'm not sure if I have bought the weekday one before, just used to sometimes get the weekend one - usually I'd see it at work but of course it was a public holiday), only for it to eventually go online late in the day!

On Sunday we drunk 220 pints, 47 jugs and 25 bottles of Carlsberg for a total of 292. Bethel Woods is going to round it up to $300! Not to encourage drinking, but awesome job everyone who turned up after the game.
