Very good point ballane - I think the photo should definitely only occur if the family is okay with it, but it should be opt in rather than opt out.

The fact that we are able to discuss logistics like this rather than purely talking about how to raise funds is incredible, top work Yakcall!

I'd imagine some kids would love to have their photo taken and be put on the website or whatever and some kids would hate it - so definitely opt in.

So question for people, do I keep it in house and we may raise a wee bit more, or do I try go bigger and try get other people to tweet it and get it in the news to raise more so we can do more?

I'm in two minds about this as what we have done already is amazing, but could and should we go bigger?

I'm quite happy to drive this and do the work, just wasn't sure how others might feel and if we want to keep it a Fever thing. I mean it will still be Fever driven but it may not just be fever funded like it is at the moment.

I personally like how it is funded by Fever. I don't have anything against trying to go bigger though.

I agree with Patrick, there's something nice about it being an in-house thing.

Sounds good then, I'm going to try promote it in the football community as I think that will be a good thing as one thing discussed about crowds is we have all these people registered to play football in Wellington but they aren't turning up to Nix games. So why not try get them involved, feel like part of the Fever and maybe they will become part of the nix...

(I know, wishful thinking but we have to try)

And people say we're crap fans. If anything we are the best fans overall in the league.  Even if it isn't on gameday in terms of noise\ crowd numbers. I'd love to see welnix go dollar for dollar on what we, as a collective raise.

Depends on our angle. Fan funding or club funding.  So far, fan funding is going epically and I think I'd rather hope that they take our initiative and maybe ramp it up by doing something equally as cool (as opposed to them jumping in with us).

Just my thoughts though.

This!

The whole movement has come about as a reaction to reports about poor crowd numbers etc. The fact that the response has been very swift, extremely positive and demonstrates out of the box thinking,  shows a level of maturity never before associated with the Yellow Fever!

Last but not least, I love that even though I cannot be present at every match like I would so dearly love to be, I can still contribute something to give someone less fortunate than myself to see something they may not have had the opportunity to experience otherwise.

Proud!

I do agree with that and I think give a little should stay fan based but it'd be nice to show the club that dishing corporate tickets out is worthless. I just hope these families turn up.

The club is on board and will be doing something, not sure at this stage what but am talking with them. I have spoken with RMH and we will have a family and they can see a new family each home game.

Feel like I'm This!-ing everything im so happy with how this is going.

So been thinking about this and it will depend on how we budget the money.

As a rough guide thinking about paying for everything for one family for each home game:

Season Ticket - $400

YF Scarf x20 - $700 (2 per family per game)

Parking x10 - $100 (going off $10 per game if turn up 30mins before)

Food x10 - $500 ($50 per family)

Total: $1,700

Now that is if we were going to pay for everything and do everything above. However if we wanted to look a one scarf per family and/or giving less for food, or maybe the family won't need parking, then that can change the costs of where we are spending money. I just wanted to give you guys an idea of what I was thinking though.

If there is appetite to grow this and make it a more permament thing - let me share this wee story

About 10 years ago - Hibs introduced an initiative called, "Kicks for Kids" where fans could buy a kids season tickets and the club would administer them to be donated to local kids charities on a weekly basis. One of the drawbacks of the scheme was that the minimum purchase was 2 kids season tickets at 75 quid each, which added up to quite a significant outlay (I dont really know why the club insisted on this - administrative purposes probably)

A few years ago, a few like minded Hibbies felt whilst the scheme was good in concept - it asked a lot of individuals to contribute, and perhaps it might be easier, and attract more donations, if people could pool donations to buy kids season tickets, an so to enable this "Leith Links 4 Kids" was created.

"Leith Links 4 Kids" pools all the donations and buys the season tickets, people who donate are free to suggest a local charity who may benefit from them. I believe the club themeselves coordinate the ticket management - LL4K just does the fund raising.

Since the fund was set up last June, they have raised GBP13,300 and have bought 146 kids season tickets.

A wee bit more about the scheme here: Leith Links 4 Kids

The facebook page for the group - which each of the charities visits to ER can be found here. Reading one of the posts from Hibs to the group - it looks like 18 kids charities are involved!  LL4K FB

Like I asked at the beginning - if there is appetite to grow this - perhaps this is a model we could follow?

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

Will there be any left in the budget for a new Striker?

If this goes well and it's looking like it will. I'd happily run this each year, maybe next year we could do Canteen but I love what we are doing here and if it keeps growing then that is great.

Just a thought, just because this money has been donated dosnt mean we have to find ways to spend it all.I really like the idea of making this a permanent thing and extending it to future seasons.I would like to think we come up with a suitable package for matchdays. Then any excess is used to start the next seasons funding.

Any extra could also be used if the family happens to be larger than four then extra tickets could be brought.

I was checking the markets open on Betfair and TAB to see if there would be arbitrage... I'll stump up $30 for each Brockie goal scored in the weekend (own goals excluded... I don't want a Police Machine situation) if you are prepared to do the same ;-)
