1)Agree but some new flooring wouldn't go amiss and a futsal court as well
2)Agree either or
3)Agree and would like to see less loutish behavior all round in city centre
4)Disagree i think there should be a big gate on the motorway that shuts at 6.30pm every night and keeps everyone from the Hutt etc out of our wonderful bogan free city!
5)Should have been in the inner harbour where the punters are if its neccesary at all that is, 21 mil for a fish zoo away out there in the middle of nowhere especially when theres another two major aquariums in NZ already and this one is going to rely mainly on tourists who pass the other two on their way down from Auckland ,how many aquariums do you visit when you are on holiday me thinks someone didn't do their homework here , the whole thing could end up being a huge drain on ratepayers money what on earth Kerry and the council is doing getting mixed up with that dodgey Italian and his missus in this venture is beyond me or is there a smell of developer in the air perhaps!!

Meachie - you've lost me with this post - what does it mean?

The Oz government recently gave the FFA AU$16M for the development of the mens & womens national teams, olympic and paralympic teams

I know this isn't really an issue for local government - but if WCC can ensure that pitches and facilities are well maintained, then that at least supports football at grassroots level.

I've played lots of indoor footy at the wharf and to be honest I don't know where else would be close enough for everyone to sneak off at lunchtime and play footy / netball / volleyball.
So I'm all for keeping the WIS in sheds 1 and 6
2. New Sports Centre at Kilbirnie or on top of Westpac walk up ramp - up the ramp would be great, and would increase the number of teams playing. Also, really easy to get to from the train.
3. Women's safety at night in the city centre - any suggestions? More of the guys with the yellow coats and cowboy hats?
4. Introduce a combined train & Phoenix match ticket for fans from Upper Hutt & Whitby lines - too right, they do this for the rugby.
5. Can't really say - What are its effect likely to be to the (undersea) environment? What are it's ongoing costs to the city?

Big John McGrath has my vote for the following reasons:
1. He's never been involved in local body politics
2. He makes a mean margharita
3. He is a friend of El Tel (Serepisos)
All I do is make the stuff I would've liked

We want to encourage the mayoral candidates on here, not scare them away.
If you want to criticise, be reasonable about it.
That said, I would like to know who is writing as 'VoteJackRuben' and what their connection to the man is.
Anyway would love to hear from some of the MEC supporters who are standing for mayor/council especially her worship the current incumbent and her wee pal Apihene Mercer!! Kiwi Jambo2007-09-21 19:38:02

Steve Kilgallon's article is confirmation of the rise of Yellow Fever as a major influence group and a key constituency for our mayoral candidates. Good one Steve
Might even get the (incredibly grumpy today) Kiwijambos vote if this new evidence provided by Feverish is true !!
Kerry >where are ya where are ya ??
