Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.
technically in the selling it at half price isn't bad at all, it's niot the club taking the loss it's the initial purchaser.

the guy went off his absolute rocker at him, calling him a "f**king disgrace" "scum of the earth" along with more profanitys and then proceeded to "evict" and "trespass" his from the stadium and wouldn't even give my friend the chance to explain himself or even apologise for what he had done because he didn't realise it was frowned upon. A touch heavy handed if you ask me. A Red Badge guard escorted him away but he managed to walk back in to join his friends without getting noticed.
Pretty disgraceful the way the guy treated him really. Sure what he was doing was wrong but he knew no better.
Would hate to think how some of them are going to deal with overseas visitors next year.

I know the college I went to issued them for the purpose of getting train passes etc.
Really, if your school doesn't issue IDs, go have a talk to the Principal, because that's utter sh*te.
Bit stilly really when a 20 year old with a season pass almost doesnt get let in because they have no Student ID on them.
Wayyy over the top.
What do you mean 'us'? Surely the three with IDs could buy student tickets?
Ended up going to one ticket booth, then off to another to get the last one.
Hit the snag when we went through the gates though. Had to argue the point with them.Michael2010-11-30 19:24:02
Thing with my incident, is the one bloke who didn't have his ID was not only the youngest, but a good foot or so shorter than the rest of our group, in general younger looking than the rest of us. Probably could've passed him as a 16 year old.Michael2010-11-30 20:08:50

I think that's what he meant - the three with ID are able to prove their entitlement to a discount, so can buy the concession ticket.
The one without ID can't prove it, so should pay full price. Sounds fair enough to me. I can't see why it is over the top to ask for ID before giving out the discounted price. My daughter is regularly asked for her student ID when we go to other events around town and she has a child/student ticket. Why should the Nix games be an exception? If you have forgotten your ID, you are reliant on the goodwill and discretion of the security staff. That goodwill and discretion is not a right, it is a gift if they give it. And the problem is that the abuse of student tickets has become high profile so the scope for security turning a blind eye is going to be reduced.
I think the new approach is great. Minimises the cheats ripping off the club - at a time when the money issues are in the news - and it means they've stopped making it a huge pain to leave and enter the YF zone during the game.

As much as your case might have been genuine those people probably aren't paid to determine veracity of claims.
When aah woz a scarfy carrying ID was pretty second nature (I mean it gets you things on the cheap doesn't it?).

Should have brought his ID then. Why didn't you warn him?

I was just saying that I believe it was a lot stricter than other businesses, and I think its over the top and unnecessary. I thought the real problem was regarding much older adults using student season passes and what not.
Also - when you're a student, pulling out an extra $10 isn't always that easy. For us, not getting student tickets meant going home.Michael2010-11-30 20:30:10

Surely you could have got together an extra $10 between the four of you? I have had this happen at movie theaters a number of times in a group, and we just pooled the money together to cover the extra cost of the knob that forgot their ID. Don't see why this is a big deal?

Anyway, I think you guys have really "over evaluated" my position.

Subject: Child ID
I attend Westpac Stadium for Wellington Phoenix games with my 11 year old daughter & she has been stopped & questioned about her season ticket at the gates for the last two games. Whilst this is commendable, to stop the adults using kids tickets, it is frustrating that an 11 year old is questioned! I am now aware that she is supposed to carry ID to gain entry with her season ticket, the problem is , she goes to Primary School, so she doesnt have Student ID, She doesnt have a passport or any other form of ID apart from a Library Ticket from KCDC. As this is her only ID, would it be acceptable? If not, could you advise me what form of ID she will need for the remaining Home games.

I apologise for the frustration involved with this. The Wellington Phoenix decided to crack down as there was some bad publicity regarding people getting in on memberships which were not the correct ones for them. At the same time, a child trying to get in on a student or adults membership should not be an issue. The staff that they use at these events have been briefed on this and will be continuing to ask for student ID however, will be allowing people in even if they dont have any. At the same time they have also been spoken to about these kinds of issues as if it is a membership which is higher than what is required, they shouldnt be asking questions.
I will forward this email on to our contact at Wellington Phoenix so he can ensure that the staff are up to play with this for the next match.

Hi Dave
Your 12 year daughter wont be asked for ID; however we will be checking the IDs of those who appear 17 years and older attempting to access the Stadium on a childs pass. Most people of this age have either a drivers license or school ID card. This process will be re-briefed prior to the season commencing this weekend, however if you do encounter any issues please phone the Stadium control room direct on 04 470 0420, or speak to the security supervisor in the area.
