I have been thinking about creating a branch of Yellow Fever for Christchurch supporters who could meet up at the pub or something like that on match days and support the boys on TV! Who would be keen on this idea? Feel free to offer any ideas....
Earlier this year the club had said that they wanted a greater presence in cities outside of wellington and requested applicants for this role - a type of ambassador job where you organise get togethers with other fans, not sure what has come from that - might be a good idea to contact the club to see if anything happened for chch - that way you are not doubling up.
But otherwise a great idea, the main challenge I have found is getting a pub that will play the games , not so much a problem for an afternoon kick-off but if you have a late kick off here or later if playing in Aus late in the evening have to select a venue that is happy to have the games on rather than change to loud thumping music. Post quake, possible candidates could be The Pegasus (former owners of teh Bard that play alot of football), maybe one of the Speights Ale Houses (Bealey gets a bit mental in the evenings, not sure about Tower Junction).
With the season starting later, at least there wont be league or a itm game to compete with - real hard to get a pub to change channel to a nix game even when playing a game that doesnt feature Canterbury.
Happy to help with any ideas you may have, needs support to get off the ground.
I would be keen for this. Agree that it would be tough to find a pub to play it. I have gone to the Fox and Ferret at the Palms a few times with mates to watch the Sunday afternoon games.

the fox is great but turns in to a nightclub when the nix would be kicking off when playing in Aus on a friday or saturday night so they wouldnt screen it
Alright, drove down Riccarton Road looking for a bar/pub playing the game. didn't find a thing. Fox and Ferret had one little tv playing a Green Day video, Running Bull had 8,000 tvs. All had either Sky Sports 1, 3 or H/Ls playing- no SS2 with the football. Everywhere else was playing the ITM Cup. A little bit gutted with that, might improve on a Sunday when the rugby has finished..
Hi Christchurch fans!
I am seeking to make contact with Christchurch Nix fans in order to co-ordinate Nix related promotions, etc. etc.
I'm not really sure how to exchange details but post here anyway and we can go from there.
I'm very keen to find some volunteers to help promote the Nix game next March at the AMP show coming up 14-16 November. A chance to help the Phoenix in a tangible way, and to talk football with people!
Look forward to hearing from you all :)
Cheers, Ahmad (Yellow Fever Southern Chapter, blah, blah, etc.)
