The paper?

Do they still print papers? (serious question).

I don't play casette tapes any more... why would I look at a paper?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

yes so it is not a promotion for the game either but if eyes work it mentioned the game same article as Dom Post. Same article that is reproduced here. Which according to some is zero promotion.

Maybe the PAX are really borked this time around ashby2012-03-30 15:23:58

The Dominion Post continues to be the best media option in the Wellington Region. Reaching nearly half of all Wellingtonians aged 15+ on any average day, boasting 232,000 average daily readers. The Dominion Post has a highly efficient reach, and is a cost effective tool.

(At least 20% of these people would have seen the promotion of the game and where to buy tickets)LOL

Is it because it is an FFA game, not a Nix game?

Although didn't the FFA come out after last season's finals and say that this season the clubs would share the gates for the finals?

That staggers me. I am amazed people still watch the news on TV at 6pm, but I know people who do. I just don't getr why... around half the news in the paper and on TV is almost always 24 hours old, or more.

I just get frustrated watching the evening news on TV or reading the paper. Often they are reporting things I read about or saw online THREE days earlier. They are just completely irrelevant to me.

Furthermore, when I do flick through a copy of the news paper the most frustrating thing is that it's hard to find the articles in amongst all the adverts. I just skip them, all of them, even when I notice a Phoenix one I ignore it. Adverts in the paper offend me. They really annoy me. It's so symbolic of the old, push/broadcast model of communications and so completely contrary to how the world today works - the pull, user scheduled world.

It's an antique... a quirky window on how things worked in the olden days.

We still have FAX MACHINES at work FFS... my goodness.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

On the news around 12.30 they mentioned there had been more tickets sold than the season to date biggest crowd at the RoF i.e. more than 13.5k

If that's correct I'm picking 20k+

I think 'more tickets sold' nonsense must be down to the fact that season ticket holders had to buy tickets for this game.

Very poor turnout though, where were even the extra 5k that turned up for the Heart game?

I met a mate during the day yday that was keen to go to the game with me on the weekend. I was like "bro, it's tonight". Him "Oh well, TV it is then". He's a footballer and has genuine interested in EPL/A-league but had no idea the game was on.

No TAB and no novelty dress up theme for starters.

Don't even get me started on the lack of bouncy castles.

If we can get 10k consistently, that would do me.

FFA should move the season back to where it was IMO.

If he is an A/League fan why did he not take the time to look or sign up for Nix email newsletter. He has only himself to blame.

Was talking about this last night, and surely now it would be impossibly hard to move the season back? That would leave a very small window between the finals finishing and the beginning of preseason. IIRC preseason games used to start in about June, with preseason training presumably starting well before then.

Just saw that the Hurricanes with $19 tickets only got 11.7k to their game tonight.

Maybe Wgtn is really being hit hard by the economic downturn and we are generally pretty tight-fisted.

^ This

Also, how many on those 11K would have been at the Nix game if the Canes weren't playing today. Maybe 3-4K....

If I were not a Nix season ticket holder (say a Welly sports fan) this weekend I'd have to decide which game to go to/ take the family to. Either the rugby or the football, because I could not afford both...Most casual fans are still going to pick rugby over football.

I understand what you are saying, but for me as a football supporter I would not go to the rugby if it was free.

What has that got to do with being a football supporter?

Surely it has to do with whether you like Rugby or not?

People give rugby fans sh*t for blindly hating football, but comments like that are exactly as bad.

Allegedly
