Can anyone clarify if Rumble is going to be on a stage actually near the seats, or away out in the centre of the field (which would be ridiculous)?

was that dompost story just a crock? Pax is very slow, certainly doesn't look anything like the 20k they're predicting

im disappointed, weather, the GC debacle game, and our home loss to roar have all combined to scupper the momentum i thought was building - if other things had gone our way this could've been the 2010 run-in all over again

ahh memories

not sure where 20k fans are going to crawl out from.

We had 24k and 32k for the last home finals, so the fans are there. We just need the weather to play nice, and a big win on Sunday won't do any harm either.

As awesome as that would be.  Nix have had f all media coverage (tv wise at least).  All radiosport can talk about is rugby, league and cricket. Our crowds has generally been down this season.  Even that treat me deal didn't sell out.

I would love 15k at each home game.  It's no good people only showing up for finals when we don't benefit from it as much financially.

Hopefully they will set up the stage off the pitch itself.

Which should be well within throwing distance.

Would think the stage will be off the pitch, so the players can warm up before the game.

Not a lot been made about Dura's 100th game either. Not even on here. Has the novelty worn off after Brown, Daniel and Lochhead?

I don't think so, there's just nothing much that stands out (like the headbandages) about Dura. He's a bit like Lochhead in that respect.

My banner is going to be Durante related.

Personally I think moving the league to an October start has been a bit of a fail. Having the finals when very little else was on generated more interest IMO. Games are clashing with far too much other stuff at the moment. There appears to be less excitement around us getting to the finals this time and as has been said, its barely been mentioned in the media, yet.

I think moving the league to October was a good move, I'm thinking though that may be it needs to finish before the other codes start up.    NZ media sucks all they care about is warriors, rugby, cricket, volvo ocean race.  it's our f**king finals!  usual crap cause we're in Wellington, and networks too poor to spend on sending a reporter down here.

So it was a good move...but it wasn't?

I agree it needs to finish earlier, and having the final in summer is just better!

I think putting Ifill on the bench would be the way to go, and bring him on ONLY if we are 2 goals up with about 20 minutues to play, so we can try to score the third that we need. Otherwise, rest him up for Friday.

Smith in for Lia for the whole game.

I think with, realistically, nothing on the game today for the Nix (wrt table position) combined with Herbert's talk of resting players the crowd will be down on what it could have been had we need a draw or 1 goal win.
I think quite a number will have their eyes on next Friday's game and will take a pass on today.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

This

The Nix marketing people must be pulling their hair out. They have done a great job promoting this game and then you see quotes in the paper from the coach saying they may rest players an the focus really is not on this game but next weeks playoff.

I have spent the week trying to encourage work collegues, friends and family along to this game. I have told them it will be a tough, hard fought entertaining game and both sides need to win.

I got a txt this morning from a friend saying  "Is this game worth going to...coz we have heard the Nix will be fielding their B team?"

ricki should've said nothing and just rested ifill anyway if he wanted

not completely honest but we need crowd numbers

disappointing season overall crowd-wise considering the marketing effort and the team's general performance

Zinidane did you explain to your mate that we have no B team!

The usual mob minus Ifill is our B team!

I don't have a problem with resting Ifill or Lia or about other players getting a chance. If that is what the coach wants to do, its fine by me. In fact some fresh legs in there might be just what the team needs. What I have a problem with is the coach undermining the marketing of the game.

The marketing people and the coach and the captain should all be singing off the same sheet.

Durante had it right...he said we really need to win this because we need to get back into a winning mode before the playoffs and its important to perform in front of the home fans etc. This is the sort of stuff that people who buy tickets want to hear. People have lots of options on how to spend their money.....

Ricki should have said the same thing....if he wanted to rest Ifill and Lia then he should have made an announcement on the morning of the match that they won't be playing because of injury/flu etc. I know its slightly dishonest but its done all over the sporting world.

People understand players getting injured....they don't understand when they have to pay full price for what they percive as a lesser product.

So you'd rather Ricki lied to the media and public?

What total bullsh*t. That will work precisely once and then Ricki will get a reputation for never being straight up, which will have much more serious long-term implications.

I realise you are anxious about crowd sizes etc, but advocating lying as a marketing strategy?
