I was thinking the same. That and the international clearance. I'm sure the club had it all sort it out somehow. Might be an injury clause.

Lovemore, anyone want to give a quick bio? Style of play? potential? Future?

So very stoked. Hope Lovemore gets a run - he's always impressed me.

Lovemore is a quick young winger / striker. Fits well into a front three in my opinion.

Better than Pav too

What I'd love to see next season is to retain all the good players we have (Ifill, Rojas, Ward, Big Mac etc..) get a quality new keeper and striker and then get a tonne of imporessive NZ youngins for very little - Clapham, Lovemore and possibly some decent looking but cheap players like Krishna from Waitakere.

Lovemore was class pre-season vs Brisbane, haven't seen much of him since.

Love more kiwis in the nix! Should've had Clapham ahead of Toto from the outset.

More kiwis, nice one!

I doubt that either one will start, though I'd love them to.
Hopefully Ricki will give them both a run. We are already confirmed in the finals so there's no reason not to.

not "confirmed" Bevan

Jets could still sneak in if we fail to pick up a point and they win both their matches

still I'd be happy to see them get some time, not least because it'll keep some of our lads a bit fresher for Fury game

How long are they in the squad for? end of the season?

That's partly why I got f*cked off after watching the Waikato game and the Bocca game. I just knew Pav did enough to get signed and it annoyed me...

Be interesting to see how well they go...

Well that's hardly a glowing recommendation! Steven Hawking is better than Pav

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Still can't believe we re-signed Pav for another two years.  I'm worried about another Diego situation all over again.

Great news for these two though.  Could see Clapham potentially starting and Lovemore coming on if we're winning.

Least Pav can develop in time. Where was diego ever going to go but to the bank for his cheque.

I reckon Diego has been hard done by.  He showed at Adelaide he is a decent player, the Asian campaign he was fantastic for them.

Circumstances here just never worked for him.

Disagree about Diego

We've never managed to get anyone decent from SA. I'm sorry but I really do wish Daniel, Diego and Toto would walk on. Phoenix need to be developing NZ talent and Clapham and Lovemore (albeit injury cover) is a step in the right direction.

Signing Pav is not

Diego would have started every game this season if he was at North Queensland (as an example) Pav wouldn't have.

Daniel isn't going anywhere.

Well as long as Toto does. I could live with Daniel. Oh wait no I couldn't. He brings nothing.

We trialled Krishna a few years back (along with Corralles IIRC) and he didn't impress at all.

Happy that these two have been called up and hopefully they'll get a chance to impress. What concerns me is that we supposedly have only 13 players avaialble for this game from a greater squad of 20 odd.

Explain to me why the phoenix NEED to develop NZ talent? They are a club that will pick the best players for the job (try to anyway). They shouldnt be used as a new zealand development team

Injured- Diego, Paston, Lia, Pav, Ifill, Leo.  Bansticked - Siggy, Manny, Dura.

Fair list.  Imagine we might have signed some longer-term cover if Terry's finances weren't quite so sticky.

Because they need to develop players for their own future. Getting the first look at new players and having the best chance to sign them is essential. Due to them being based here, and not having any other fully professional team in the country, NZ is the best location. It also engages the community and fans.
