Coaching Speculation - The global search to hire Mark Rudan

I thought this was interesting in the Michael Burgess article on changes looming for NZF...
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?...

"The new members are expected to hold the rest of the executive committee and Martin to account.

NZF's plan to build a national academy is unpopular, given the success of existing academies around the country. There is also concern about Heraf's far-reaching powers which exceed those of previous technical directors. And there remains issues with the integrity of the processes underpinning the appointment of Heraf as Football Ferns coach and Schmid, particularly in the latter case when there were obvious local candidates to coach the All Whites."

I guess if Heraf and Schmid get tossed out any time soon, they could always apply for the Nix job. Both have the qualifications, and the Nix are in no hurry so anytime this year would probably be okay. ;)

Apart from player signings, if we sign a coach next month they will still have more time with the team than Unai Emery will have at Arsenal before the start of the season.

They have been but its pretty hard for them to report anything new when the club won't speak to them.

We have 9 days until it is a year since we appointed Darije and rado. Lest we forget how we lambasted the club for getting him in so late last time and attributed some of our failures to the lack of haste in signing a coach. I'm not saying this season will now be as bad as last, but again it's already us starting on the back foot

22 new posts since last night, so got a little excited and thought we had hired a coach

I think it is Chris Caretaker and Des as no one else has applied

It would be double that, with everyone criticising "lack of ambition/any gameplan whatsoever".

It feels like a painful record already.

Is that your pet name for the two who are nestled into the black lacy bra?

What we had was way worse than what we have.

It might well be that we don't have a coach and no recent rumours about who it might be - because they are not going to hire one and our club is finished as we know it. The longer this whole thing has gone on, the less confident I feel. Come on, where would you find the hiring process taking so long otherwise? #elephantintheroom

I think they've either had a couple of targets who are no longer viable, and have struggled to find more (they aren't the best connected when it comes to recruiting players etc) they probably have a couple more, but are thinking that if they don't employ anyone just yet it'll save them a bit of cash, not just on the manager but on any potential players he'd sign as well

Genuine questions:

1. So what was with the "we'll have someone in 2 weeks" line we have been given and no update?

2. Targets, wouldn't it be more likely they would advertise and those that apply are most likely available if the conditions are right?

3. If its a money saving exercise, what does that say about their stated aim of doing what's best for the club and getting a competitive team for next year?

If the club is finished as we know it, why is *that* taking so long? You'd think that the longer they take over folding the club, the more money they'd have to keep spending in the meantime.

I think we had lined up slappy, but then he went and did the slapping and obviously we don't want that happening with us next season. I think that that then delayed a lot of stuff, and then they essentially had to start the process again of who to bring on-board. That's just what I think though

Am I the only one who gets sick of people saying "nobody will want to come to us in the current circumstances"? If anything, more coaches and players will become aware of the club/be up for the challenge, plus if our board's halfway competent they'll be setting a bit of $$$ aside to ensure a really good manager. Hyped for tomorrow, don't be so doom and gloom with so much ahead of us
