of course i don't expect european superstars, but i do expect players of the standard that other teams around the a-league are capturing, not recent under 18 academy grads

hey, for all i know, this guy might be great, but given our track record of signing crap players unwatched, i'm guessing he's just another player to add to our ever increasing list of half season numpties

someone please explain to me how signings like this fit into our 'five year plan'

Agree we have a crap track record of signing players unwatched, so what damage does a 6 game loan deal do?
I guess the only thing it may do is possibly get us into the playoffs and generate more gate sales for a playoff game. At the very least, in a 1 game shoot out, anything is on as the Warriors showed us making the GF from 8th.

The lifestyle in Wellington is fantastic! No one plays in the Premier League because of the lifestyle in London or England. London is shit hole!

This. It's the constant negativity from certain posters and the unwillingness to listen to other posters opinions that has driven certain high profile members of the forum away (i.e. Piney). Most of this could be fixed if some people were to stop having the attitude of "I'M RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG END OF STORY".

yes, my slant on this particular signing is negative, i am not denying that

i do consider myself objective and i have tried to articulate my argument

with the exception of jeff and a couple of others, who have articulated their points well, all i have got back is 'don't be negative' and now i've even got 'the negativity is driving the celebrities away'  which is just classic

you don't have to agree with me, but you also don't have to tell me off for expressing my opinion

oh and for the record, i want everything to be rosy and wonderful, just like you do.  i'm one of the yellow fever founders, so in the past i've even been accused of being a bit of a cheerleader.  however, there are a few too many things going wrong at the moment

My comment wasn't aimed at you. You actually listen to what others are saying and provide well thought out responses, which is something far too few people on here do these days.

If he scores goals, that'd be great. If he doesnt but sets up brockie, thats fine to. if he fails to perform then hes like the rest of the squad and we only have him for 3 months. no point in getting too angsty about this cat. I just wanna see him play, then make a call.

Well apparently according to http://www.fulhamweb.co.uk/player/596/corey-gameiro.aspx he's off contract at the end of the season so read into that what you will.
We could be looking at him for next season then. Would think it is unlikely they let him come out here if they did want to keep him.

Liking the man-love moments here!

I've not seen anything of this kid so can't comment on whether or not he can play. I also agree that striking isn't out main area of weakness at the mo'- the midfield in particular is a train wreck. But , the season is already in the crapper so I can't see what the harm is in seeing what's he's got. If he's crap , then no harm done and we haven't signed a donkey for a long term deal. If he's good then maybe worth a punt longer term.Either way , I don't see how we can lose on this.

Ever been to The Venue in New Cross? Great club. You can hear the glass crunching under your feet as you walk in. And one time I was leaving and there was a taxi on fire outside the front door.

I think some of the angst around this signing might be based on the incorrect assumption that the Nix actively sought out a striker. I doubt that's how it happened at all. More likely an agent contacted all A-League clubs saying "there's a Premier League club with a young Aussie on their books not getting any game time, can anyone give him a gig for a couple of months while they assess their options? No risk to you, he might score a few goals and if the club don't offer him another contract you've already had a good look at him (and vice versa) if you want to make your own offer".

Under those circumstances much less reason to get angsty, no?

I'm not bother trawling through the previous few pages of what I assume is copious amounts of angst, whinging and BS. Think the above is probably a likely assessment of what happened, and if not? well who cares. nothing ventured nothing gained. Judge him based on what he does in the coming few games.

Is he similar to what we have already? probably. He's not that much shorter than Smeltz and he did well for us so who knows, we may get lucky.

The most exciting part of the season is yet to come... who survives the chop.

Wish the boy luck, hopefully he's brilliant!

Aside from spelling our name wrong - this kid could be useful. Or not, there's little/no downside for the club so lets give him a chance and see what he's got. He can only be an improvement on Pav... maybe he isn't - but we'll see (refer previous sentence re: minimal downside).

Good luck Corey (drop the bluddy 'e' tho).

Yeah I have no issue with Gameiro signing.

Lets be rehash the general feeling - we are playing like shit, and the off field gives the appearance as being as bad as the on field. He has not committed funds to tis player for next year (and if he was signed next year and turned out to be a dud like Totori, Chen, George etc Ricki would get caned) and gets 3 months to see if this kid can play.

What else can he do? The squad ain't playing, he is bringing in players. If the kid fails, what has he lost? The last 6 rounds of a shit season? This is exactly what the club should be doing. At the very least, Cernak and Hogg whom are on similar deals, are starting and not looking out of place.

General fan negativity for the sake of being continuously negative. Eat a dick.

Couldn't agree with you more Jeff.

not negative for the sake of being negative. just dont think we need a striker. we need a midfield general not some 20 year old who hasnt scored a goal since the 2011 under 20 world cup

I highly doubt that we would be able to find a 'midfield general' in the middle of the season, even if we were actively looking for one.
we need 3 midfeild generals

Agreed, of course we all want to see a midfield general (or two) and perhaps someone who can add something to our defence... I doubt the kind of player/s we need are available at the moment - here's hoping there's some major changes in the off season.

In the meantime, we have a young kid who may have potential, of course he isn't going to solidify our midfield and stop us conceding goals - but lets not forget home many goals we've missed over the last month or so. Nothing to lose, let's give him a go.

Not that I hold any sort of profile on here but I haven't posted or even read a lot in awhile because it's just no longer any fun to be part of because of the negativity. It's such a drain trying to read through posts in the hope of finding one worth reading/replying to. At the same time I'm sure no one misses me. I only came in here to see if anyone had posted some youtube highlights of this guy.
