I'd re-sign Bertos, one of Lochy or Hogg (would probably lean towards Lochy if he gets back to full fitness and accepts a big pay-cut), and would make a play for Gameiro in case his preferred options don't work out.

In terms of how I voted in this poll the first time around, the only change is looking to re-sign Gameiro instead of Sanchez, who's been very disappointing and takes up a valuable import slot.

In terms of active recruitment, another central midfielder and a centre-back would be my main priorities.

I think we can safely say that Gameiro won't be back, he's clearly better than anyone we have in our squad. I think Hogg is the right option at LB he'll be cheap and has room to improve - Lochy not so much. Plus Rowe can come in if necessary. Basalaj must get a look in next season as the number 2. we need more than one midfirlder I think, if smith and sanchez are gone then we need to replace them with two quality CM's.

Huge call on Gameiro, in fact disagree with that assessment but he fancies himself, so he'll be looking at other options definitely. Don't think we'll have enough cash for two more quality central midfielders (this is in addition to Hernandez remember). Ian Hogg will be 24 this year, so it's not like he's a youth player who has plenty of room for improvement - but we'd be able to get more mileage out of him at this stage than Lochy, so that's definitely a consideration. Think at this stage Lochy's still a better defender, but costs more, and as an over 30 player, obviously has a much more limited career span left in front of him. I think that's going to be a very interesting decision.

I thought we missed him yesterday. He has been fantastic in the Greenacre era.

I can't see Gameiro staying. He came here to get game time up front, but was shunted back into the midfield by Greenacre. The couple games up front he looked lively but I still prefer Waffles & BrockStar. But he did add a lot of work rate into the midfield, that we will have to replace next season because Carlos isn't known for his.

Basalaj is off to the US for study apparently, so doubt he'd be the No.2 to Moss.

Gameiro threw himself around to good effect but on a short term contract you can do that, especially if you're desperate to impress. A whole season is another matter. His ball control was often poor at crucial times. Not sure if he's as good as he maybe thinks he is but he was a breath of fresh air after the listless and inept performances we had to watch all season.

Of the others I'd keep Leo and Lochy. Possibly Cernak too. Thought he was actually better than Sanchez and showed signs that he's capable of shaking off the perennial novice tag he's been stuck with and finally start putting his speed and creativity to good use.

Think most people realise he doesn't see himself as an A-League player. I was meaning if he has a bad u20 World Cup and ends up having to slum it in the A-League, he wouldn't stay with us.

Agree completely Steve - O - Lochead has been pants the last two season and Leo doesn't have the pace any more and without that he's very average.

I guess we could measure up the mascot suit to see if he fits it...

On topic: Considering we'll have Hernandez possibly playing attacking centre-mid next season, I'd either want to see an attacking left-winger who can beat a man and, more importantly (and presuming he's re-signed), allow/force Lochead to stay deep and not get caught 30m out of position, and an old fashioned, tackles and Row Z clearances right-half (Nothing bugged me more than watching our defenders brainlessly try to play out of defence at all costs).

With the likes of Steyn, Brockie, Fenton, Hernandez, Ifill and Cernak, we've got a more than capable attacking unit. Just felt this season our midfield had the attacking bite of the Queen's corgis.

Shame about Gamiero not wishing to stay. Certainly need a decent DM to back up Hernandez whom I would imagine being used as an AM behind a front two. Need a new LB, Hogg & Rowe would be a potential money saving duo. Rowe did pretty good on Sunday.

A new RB would be great too. I think we all have to put our personal emotions aside and really get to grips with the idea that some of our players are getting on and not up to the improved standards of this season. Leo has lost his speed really and his crossing has not been the greatest except for a couple of quality ones.

Lochhead has not been great but it still sucks he broke his leg.

I think Siggy and Durante will sort it out during the close season. Last season (2011/12) they were really good and  this year they did ok except with the change of game plan. I felt sorry for both of them as they were trying to play several positions at one. Siggy still leads for interceptions.

Still, even though i am disappointed with how this season has gone, I'll be back. Fresh Manager, fresh players, who knows, perhaps next season might be a decent one for us.

If not, I think Ryan Thomas could be the next Marco Rojas, get him in there. (The school of excellence at least)

Azevo, he's number 3 now after we signed Kocic, according to mao. By all accounts though, they see his huge potential and consider him to be their long term choice for goalkeeper. They won't release him. Don't know where you got your information from tripvincent but it is completely wrong.

All this talk of dropping players and do a cleanout is fine. BUT where are all these replacements going to come from? Looks like we will only have one overseas player slot available.( I still get angry at the stupidity of the Totori 2 years). So which A-League rejects do people have in mind when they want to replace the players cleaned out...because basically any new recruits have to come from OZ/NZ.

In reality we are way down the pecking order when it comes to good OZ players looking for a gig. Sure we will clear the books of Pantellis, Smith, Downey and Sanchez but the first 11 won't be much different  from the team the played in the later part of the season with the addition of Hernandez and  a new foreign DM. The new coach will be hamstrung a bit regarding selections. He really won't be able to put his stamp on recruiting until the following year where lots of places will come up as foreign players finish there term.

You are absolutely right and I think that most are thinking that with a new coach and a couple of players we will be unbeatable. I doubt that a lot will change next season but I hope I'm wrong.

Doubt it, just can't see it happening, he's getting game time in the reserves and can just tell Ricketts is going to think he can fly again.

Liam Miller has been a key part of the way Alister Edwards has changed the way Perth play lately. Ian Ferguson was using him in way that meant he was less effective than his full potential suggests (kinda similar to the way Ricki used Stein). Edwards recognised Miller's strengths and exploited them, so I would be very surprised if they don't make a strong play to sign him for at least another season. I seriously doubt we will be able to offer him a better contract than Perth can.

I think Pantellis, Smith, Sanchez, Paston and, to a lesser extent, Downey moving on will free up some cap space. Add to that Leo and Lochhead's salaries being reduced to fairly reflect their current market values and the new coach may have some room to move.

Carlos would have put a decent dent in available funds but I think (hope) we will be able to accommodate a very good additional import and, may be, a very good Australian / Kiwi - or, by biting the bullet and paying out Totori, a second decent import.

Who knows the owners may have a rush of blood to the wallet and wear paying out Totori as a one-off extraordinary cost.

Wouldn't it be amazing to have a midfield next season !
