Even for you JD thats a bit off.As if they had an option to keep the coach.Agree with Blew a lot of the blame is out of their hands.Sadly until our future is guaranteed i really fear for the squad we can assemble.

I can see where JD is coming from. The Nix seems to run like a pop up business. Every year we close down in autumn. Most of the staff leave. Later in the year we get things going again. New people arrive, we hand the whole thing over to them and then they scramble around to get the thing operational and then we repeat the whole process again.

At least this year we have a coach early....which is probably more about Rudan pushing us onto his buddy. You can blame the  lack of a license renewal for this season but we have been doing this stuff for years. I am in JD's camp. The off field operation of this club leaves a lot to be desired. They really really need someone in charge who has some understanding of how to run a football club.

Yes in some part i do agree they havnt shown the most enlightening  management. But they cant be blamed for the coach leaving i doubt you would move your family to a new city if the expected job had no certainty to it.Given the license renewal saga has been ongoing it just cant be put down to this year. Yes there are some things that could and should have been done better but shark seems at times as if many seem to think there are players and staff  lining up to join a club that dosnt have its future guaranteed.

Given some of the rubbish they have to deal with at times its staggering that the Welnix guys still throw their money on the fire.

Both of them had offers from India - which is not to say that this rumour is accurate at all. But there's money in Indian football now, Vidosic has just gone there too.

Half our players were on one year contracts last season that’s part of the problem!

I think as a club we need to see a signing soon, just to know something is happening. The club needs to make a positve move.

Are they waiting till after June 30 to sign players? when the independent A league will be approved (or not).

My guess is we have nothing to offer until our licence is extended to attract good players.

Agreed.

It's partly out of the clubs hands, but they shouldn't have;

a) Included a get out clause for Rudan

b) Left the majority of good players in our squad off contract going into our potentially last ever season

I've seen a lot of mention of this 8 week clause. I'm not sure the criticism is warranted. If you're starting point is that you can't (and probably don't want to) force someone to stay who doesn't want to be here, having a long resignation time reduces the gap between managers. In this instance, it allowed us to recruit and sign someone before the season had finished. If instead he did all this snakey actions behind the scenes, and dropped the 'I want to go home' angle after our last game, we'd be in a similar position to Victory. Obviously he could have still done that with the clause, but it may have pushed WU timeframes out further.

We needed the get out clause for our last Coach who tried to impersonate Hudson. But the club had to pay(Buy him off) him out.

You can't win either way.

The end of the day, if Rudan had turned out to be a flop and we had him for two years, the club would have been criticised for not having something like that in the contract. It was a shark situation for the club and can understand it.  Hopefully lessons have been learnt.

You don't really want someone here against their will. Seems like a reasonable gamble of a clause IMO.

I agree. But without the clause we could have released Rudan and potentially got a transfer fee or some kind of guarantee from WU that they wouldn't poach any of our players.

Come on 2nd best, you are better than that, would you be happy if all our players had a 8 week I'm off clause?

The clause was shocking and whoever put it in there I note has not even tried to justify it.

Probably because they know now how flipping dumb it was

Kosta and Tratt managed to leave without such a clause.

We wouldn't be calling it dumb if we were actioning it.

What is dumb was Lowry having a two year extension clause in his contract that he was able to action, not the club!

That proves my point. As soon as someone wants to leave there is no point in keeping him round. We did that with Rossi and he was pants the second year. Do you really think Rudan would still be here if he didn't gave that clause?

Payments to Homegrown players are now outside the cap, so Cacace, Singh, Rufer, Elliot are able to be out outside the Salary cap.

[Edit: I wrongly thought Sail, Fenton & Doyle if re-signed would count but I think its only u23 players]

Sail might sneak in, often u23 designates someone that is born on or after the 1st of Jan 1996 (such as in the Olympics)

so we basically have four players taking up cap space out of 9 at the moment? Pretty good

Turns out the Homegrown allowance is still limited to 4 players.

So we can pay the 4 most expensive of Cacace/Singh/Rufer/Elliot/Sail outside the cap.

If we re-sign Doyle, 30% of his wages can be outside the cap & if Durante re-signs, 50% of his wages can be outside the cap. Fenton doesn't qualify for a loyalty allowance because he left the club for that 1 season.

This all depends on WelNix's willingness to use all available cap exceptions tho, they haven't shown that much willingness to do so in the past.

Kind of annoying with a lot of long term players going, when the 'loyalty' payments are basically unlimited now

Honestly they should just scrap the cap all together now, there are so many exceptions that it is pointless. We could see Sydney paying $5m+ for their squad this season whilst CCM goes at 90% of the $3.2m cap. It just creates the illusion that its a level playing field when its far from it now.

Heard Vic and Sydney spending last season was 7-8mill. (both had 2 marquees)

Issue with removing the Cap is that the divide in spending will only increase. CCM will continue to spend the $2.9 (or whatever money they are allocated from TV deal) and then the Syd/ victree and mel city could spend $10m+.

The 10 team league will become 2 competitions - one with the teams with $$$ and then the rest.
