Draper to return.
Based on nothing other than the fact he's a Kiwi and scoring plenty overseas. Replacement for Hooper.

he's scoring plenty in Wales, I have no idea how their league compares to the A-League but it didn't sound like Drape was looking for a move when he says he's targeting 200 goals.
Not well.
nuff said then, good to see that he has found a place to enjoy his footy at though.
He was linked 6 or 7 years ago with a handful of League 1 teams as he continued to plunder the Welsh league, but nothing eventuated.
Clearly quite happy where he is so he may have turned down better offers?? Still a great record and some funny stats to share.
Looks like Steinmann is joining Fowler in India.
not surprised.

If you look at the sides he’s playing it’s no surprise. He’s basically been playing for Central United taking on Huntly, Ngaruawahia etc. if he was better he’d have long since left TNS and be playing in Newport (Wales) or some lower league team in England or Scotland.
According to the nix's insta B Wilson has been released so he can head back to perth...
Who do we have left?
GK: Marinovic, Sail
DEF: Payne, Fenton
MID: Devlin, Rufer, Piscopo
FWD: Ball, Davila, Sotirio, Waine
According to the nix's insta B Wilson has been released so he can head back to perth...
Confirmed.

Maybe the Glory have an early heads up they won't have to join an East Coast, Australia based hub come Dec 27th, otherwise the whole 'wanting to be close to family in WA' becomes a bit moot.
Hopefully means Nix have some new DM cover lined up as a signing(s), to agree to let him go.

Wynton Rufer may have just announced the first Wellington Phoenix player re-signing.

he probably wont, if anything he'll being the form he had for the Jest which was well below what we need.

Wilson did ok.
Ridenton is a kiwi with experience. If the level of the A League is dropping, he should be more than good enough. Just a question of is there better in NZ wanting a crack.
What's Parkhouse up2?

Pack'N'Save! Please don't bring him back....
Ridenton no
Clayton Lewis yes
Looks like Clayton Lewis and James McGarry are on board for the new season. Progress!

With the signing of McGarry and Lewis I think we are up to 13 players.
Assuming the 18 man squad rumors are correct I think the final 5 players need to be a centre forward, three centre backs (with one able to cover LB) and TAHW.
Given we only have two imports currently, all three of the TBC's below can be imports
The article suggests that TAHW has been re-signed, just not announced yet.

Is DeVere signed for next season? I though he initially signed for just 1 year

surely TAHW is gonna sit in the starting CB role now that Tayor is gone? A decent tall centre forward would be useful but I'd expect to see Ball starting upfront with Piscopo and Sotirio out wide. Wonder if Cillian is looking for another a-league kick around?

Nothing announced, we had a good run out of Devere last season but with his injury record you'd want another senior CB with him.
Happy with all three.
Lewis offers a known quantity and Wihongi did well when called upon and will be better for his experiences last year.
McGarry is an interesting one... glad he got the gig, but has not set the world on fire here previously or in the Netherlands. Big chance for him, assuming he can make the position his ahead of the young aussie
Fantastic news that we've signed additional players and both Kiwis... Looking like a decent squad if we can hold onto Ball and Davila. Is Marinovic back from Germany?.
What excites me about Wihongi is playing out from the back, I hope we build the next team with the idea that we have ball playing CBs

Yipe that's why I think a Tom Doyle even though he ticks a few boxes - experienced, can cover CB & LB - Talay just won't be interested.
Deklan Wynne, I'd be more keen on. But reckon he will be looking to join his younger bro, somewhere in Europe. His days at Colorado seem over.

I'd be surprised if Marinovic wanted to come back after his insane insta post. Probably eyeing up a move to Sweden.

I'm gonna guess a Covid related vent about NZ's borders, because he can't get his German partner into NZ.

[Edit: Looking back at old Tweets from Piney, he had knee surgery in late 2016 & was out for 6 months. So must have been 15/16 he was staring for the WeeNix]

It sounds like Davila will be back, although it appears there's an issue with a visa for his son.
dad works in NZ and has a visa to be here, I'd hope that the immigration people aren't that stupid. Nix will be onto it for sure.

It's Aussie that's the problem.
Scratch that, sounds like it's the transit through US.

Many nationalities don't qualify for an ESTA visa to the States. Peruvian citizens don't.
Could be a long tricky flight to NZ, as I don't think Canada-NZ flights are operating at the moment, which would normally be one alternative path to avoid Gringoland.
May have to go Mexico-EU-Doha-Syd-Akld or some other nasty route. That's if he and la familia aren't just flying directly to NSW.
