Apparently Ticketek is a mad house at the Fowler Centre.  25 deep, all chasing tickets for tonight...

Same experience in the Hutt a couple of hours ago.  Went to pick up tickets for a couple of mates who are coming along and the queue extended out the door.  Ticket guy said it was getting pretty hard to find any spaces on the main side of the stadium.  Sounds like a good crowd in prospect.

With Tony P and Terry S joining the Fever Zone will that increase the numbers by 2?  Or do the part-timers in the corporate boxes already get counted?  Get in among the people Tony and Terry!

My usual crew are all on holiday at the moment so I am going solo to this game for the first time.

Both me and Alistair have noticed plenty of Aussies in town today - maybe they've made the trip?

In any case, I'm slated to be called a traitor again for cheering against the closest thing Nowra has to a local A-League team FORZA PHOENIX

Ahh cool. I'm trying to convince a newbie to come so hope to see you there with a greenie.

I will be the one with the bootleg nix scarf, ex-knights but now nix jacket on with a healthy pasty white tan.

Likely to look stressed due to work.

I'm in bright yellow shoes, and at the match will have a Phoenix flag as a cape... oh and I'm a touch lardy.

excellent news all day re crowd numbers, the promo has clearly helped - good for out-of-towners especially, but probably also people realising it's their last chance for a Nix buzz for a while (except for the 'Melbourne touring party' and/or a minor playoffs miracle)

Looks like the fever might spill into like three aisles (as opposed to the usual one and a half ish) this game :)

The queues at the booths were very long at 7.15. I expect a lot of people gave up, same as the 1st home game. Good crowd though.

I hope that season ticket holders who have supported the club will not be disadvantaged.

cheers

You won't be disadvatnaged. Season ticket holders will be allowed to bring in children (max 3) U16 for free.

Well what a surprise.  Exactly what I feared would happen happened.  I rocked up with three kids and my season pass and was told to go and queue to get tickets and that no kids were going in without them.  As a result, I missed the first quarter of the game.  Please, please, please Tony P and Tickinept, if you make decisions like this please think about all the implications of what it means for the other ticket holders.  All I wanted was some clear communication that I needed to have tickets for the kids to get them in with my season pass.  It's not rocket science is it?

Good initiative to have free kids though and much appreciated.  I'm sure it added to the crowd numbers.

I hope they get this sorted out next year, I really do. It's ridiculous! We were lucky enough to take a short queue into a cash only line and get in as the ball was being kicked off. I'm def gonna get a season ticket but for times like these, especially next year if the Nix are huge 08/09 title contenders, Ticketek etc are gonna have to sort this out for families etc.

And in contrast... friend turned up with several kids and the guys at the gate said just squeeze them through.  Left hand didn't seem to know what right hand was doing.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the stewards then tried to stop my kids getting into aisle 23 where my season ticket is because their tickets were for aisle 16!  As I say, someone really needs to think through these ideas before implementing them and announcing them publicly.

- the winner !!

(actual crowd size around 14,200)

A really great crowd atmosphere - best crowd bits for me were;

when Moss saved the penalty,

sometime in the second half when all of aisles 21 - 25 joined in a chant (that was awesome)

and the Winter Wonderland chant for Aloisi - which is now stuck in my head .....

We (Red Badge) were told by Ticketek to let kids in with parents without tickets to try and get the crowd into the game..would you have preferred to have waited in a queue?? As to the ticket/aisle thing...I know that everyone wants to stand in the YF zone but the Stadium has a rule we have to enforce regarding tickets and correct seating...if you have an issue with it, contact the stadium with a suggestion rather than, as it always happens, giving the Red Badge guys a verbal.

On a positive though, what a great crowd generally last night with only a few people being evicted for bottle throwing and being too drunk...as I have said before, Thanks to the YF for making the Ring of Fire such a fun place to work..I wish that the other fans who use the Ring could enjoy themselves as much as you guys do...is it the 08/08 A league season yet???

See you all back then..(or sooner if you come to anything else)

I thank you!  My persistance paid off, although I can't talk today as my voice still seems to be floating around the ROF somewhere!

cheers buzz, it seems from all the evidence we have this season regarding ticketek's 'performance', that they cause problems that you get stick for - because as noted several times in connection with the kids frre promo, they don't think the obvious issues through and they don't communicate clearly with the fans -or it seems among their staff

thanks too for the last paragraph, having an amazing sport to watch helps!!

I did ask them for an answer to the season ticket/family question prior to gameday - but didnt know the answer and  they never came back to to me (so dont blame me - I tried)

Agreed.  I realise the stewards are just doing what they are told.  The problem lies somewhere else.  And once I explained my predicament, the good lady from Red Badge allowed the kids into aisle 23 and used her common sense.

See you at the cricket.

As a "Deloittes" member, I was approached on the concourse by 2 kids who asked me to take them inn for free.

We walked thru the turnstiles but were stopped and told the kids needed tickets.
No probs, as this was 6:15pm and we got the tickets in no time and were let in.

At 7:29 I walked down from the Deloittes lounge to my favourite spot in aisle 14, and there were thousands of people outside milling to get in and queing to get tickets.

The advice? Get there early!

Crowds at all A league games over the festive season have been great. Lets make sure we finish off with a great crowd. Get your friends to come along and enjoy watching the Nix take on Sydney.  It would be great to get over 12,000 so lets go for it and give our lads a great send off.

Well nearly 15k would have made you happy me thinks. Thanks for giving us your time.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Me and my mate drove down from Palmy for the game. Started at Backbencher at about 4-30pm and met some guy who had come down from Pokeno. Big ups. Also met a fellow Arsenal supporter at the bar. Didn't get his name but I'm sure you guys know who he is. Has Bergkamp 10 on his back and had the drum
We left the BB at 6-30pm and headed for the ticketek booth at the railway station. No queue and had no problems getting a ticket in aisle 21.
Have been to previous games and was well impressed by the chanting this time. All relevant and LOUD!!
Loved the Aloisi wonderland chant which just seemed to go on and on and on. Also the "Are you Glory in disguise" "We're not Auckland anymore" after the crowd number was announced.
A great night. Shame about the result. I wonder who scored Aloisi's shirt at the end.
Also saw Lonegunmen taking some photos of fans across the other side of the players tunnel. That Nix shirt is a deadset giveaway LGM.

I was stupid enough to let my mate buy the tickets, we get to the stadium at friggin 7.10ish and he tells us he hasn't bought them! so there I am standing in line for half an hour in my retro ricki getting abused by all the YF waklin past! Not cool guys! The worst part was at 7.30 (I was nearly in tears at this stage and my friend was covered in bruises) they didn't play the commentary over the loud speakers just some crap about not getting drunk.
