I was wrong too, but the crowd was very vocal today. Excellent stuff. Shame that our next game is on a Wednesday, I reckon we could have built on todays performance.

I'll be at the next home game so there should be 6,508 at the ground the following Wednesday.
You had 8,400 for a pre-season Grand Final on a Wednesday Night, nothing to say you won't get a similar crowd, especially if you get a good result against Sydney.

We got Newcastle on the Wednesday and then Perth on the Sunday.

Maybe the Phoenix could run some promotion regarding a ticket for both matches (i.e. the Adelaide/LA Galaxy double).

Big week for the Phoenix

I don't know how many of you have been to a GCU home game, but I went there for the 0-0 draw and it was a total prick to get to.  I'm not surprised by the no show of fans.

There also seemed to be a significant lack of match advertising and the ticket cost me a lot more the a Phoenix one.  It was almost as expensive as seeing a Premiership team play.  Definitely a lot more then a British Championship ticket, and when you look it what that buys you, you too would question the value for money.

The Nix should go all-out with their marketing for the next couple of weeks and really get some big crowds at the ROF.

E.g.$15 tickets!

A double, cheap, ticket for Wednesday nights and Sundays game is a must.

Really a good change to capitalize on the attention football l is getting. some big crows leading up to Nov 14th would be choice.

You would have to be sure that you would get enough people to cover the reduced revenue.

TBH, Wellington's prices are actually pretty good. $17 for students, $20 for Adults is a decent price and amongst the lowest in the A-League.

I would hope the Glory game feeds on the general football hype in the country a week before the World Cup Qualifier.

I'll agree it took ages to get to. Had to park at Robina shopping centre and walk!

We'll need a solid performance against Sydney, but given the Wednesday night for the Jets game, a student promotion wouldn't go amiss. Us students hit town on Wednesday...and imagine if this follows a 'Nix win!

Also, for the match against Perth:
Sunday 8th - "No shot for Glory"
Saturday 14th November - "ONE SHOT FOR GLORY!!!"

Gold Coast was an interesting place for a new A-League team. I guess it just made sense, with the Titans in the NRL, the Blaze in the NBL, and an GayFL team coming in 2011. The fanbase doesn't seem to be there...even for their first ever home match, they drew a pretty low crowd.

With NQF at least you know that they will draw fans if they ever become good. The Townsville Crocodiles in the NBL normally draw big crowds and they have been up and down for a long time. The Cowboys in the NRL were sh*t for their first 8 years, make the playoffs for the first time, and the crowds come from everywhere. I imagine NQF will be alright if they ever get a strong team.

I think you'll find over the summer their crowds will increase. There just isnt the population during the rest of the year. Its kind of like the Dunedin of Australia.

To that possible promo myself and others are suggesting:

I'm not saying making it a "two for the price of one" deal by any means.

$17 for Students, make it $30 (for example) to see both games etc etc.

How about a "Happy Hour" promotion for the Jets game? Being middle of the week, people can go to the stadium to have drinks, instead of the local student pub.

There will be a great atmosphere, and lots of other people drinking, so it would be a great night out

Bag another 6 in Sydney next weekend and we won't have to worry about discounting tickets. In fact, do that every week and we'll have to start enquiring about the temporary seats! (hey, I'm allowed to go a bit overboard today)

we had a mid-week game v Melb (if my memory is functional) in the pre-season final before season 2

mainly memorable for Smeltz skying one over the bar in the pen shoot-out (which he is welcome to do in an a-league context now)

Well if the AW's make the WC finals, interest will be up next year so I can think of an increase in attendances. I would be ambitious enough to suggest a 16-20k crowd.

Can't see why the midweek game would be such a big deal for crowds? People get home a bit late on a weeknight...and?

I predict 8000.

On another note...What has happened to Sydney FC's crowds? 8k? In a game where they could go to the top of the league (which they did)?

Scary and quiet for what used to be such a well attended club.

No way.

As previously stated we got 8500 for a pre season game just last year and we hadn't just won 6-0 in our previous game.

Why exactly can 2500 people from yesterday not make it to a midweek game?

I hope you are right. I hope that we have 10,000+.

I guess I just see a lot of kiddies around where I sit, I question whether they would come and watch a game until 10pm on a school night.

So it will be likely that I am wrong again.

Yeah it was a bit low yesterday. Hopefully that will be the low point though. Keep scoring more than our token one goal and people will turn up.
